"Officer, isn't this situation clear enough? These two are just causing trouble, spreading rumors, and randomly damaging everyone's property. They should be arrested!"
"Yes, Officer, they should be taken in!"
"Arrest them!"
The girls in the dormitory shouted passionately, their anger flaring at the thought of their belongings being thrown everywhere.
"Oh dear, oh dear! I don't feel well! Son, help me back to the guesthouse!"
Even though the old woman was fierce and unreasonable, seeing everyone rallying to have her arrested made her fearful. Realizing the situation was turning against her, she immediately pretended to be ill, hoping to escape.
"Well, since your mother isn't feeling well, why go to the guesthouse? Let's take her to the hospital together. I'm magnanimous enough not to hold a grudge against you for what you've done to me, but I hear medical expenses can be quite steep!"
Yu Suihuan could tell that the old woman was faking it; with such poor acting skills, no one present could possibly believe her.
"Oh dear! What’s happening to me all of a sudden? Officer, did you hear that? She said she wouldn't pursue us, so you can't arrest us!"
Everyone stifled their laughter at the old woman's antics; she truly was flexible in her approach!
"Officer, I want to report a crime! That daughter-in-law I killed took my two grandsons and knocked us both out before leaving. You must do something about this!"
"Oh really? Are you two made of paper? One moment you're knocked out, and the next you've lost your teeth—all while being women?"
Wang Zhaoran's words prompted a burst of laughter from the crowd. The old woman shot a sinister glance at everyone, her face dark as coal.
"Come on, let's go back and take your statements."
Two police officers led the pair away to the station while several girls walked ahead, straining to hear Yu Suihuan and Wang Zhaoran's conversation.
"I'm sorry, Yu Suihuan; it's all my fault for not being there with you."
"It's not your fault! Who doesn't have their own matters to attend to?"
Yu Suihuan dismissed it; she wasn't one to be overly sentimental—why should everyone revolve around her?
"I actually went this morning..." Wang Zhaoran began as he reached into his pocket. "This is the deed to the Siheyuan; it's a gift for you!"
Wow!
Oh my gosh!
The few girls walking ahead were extremely envious, simultaneously expressing their admiration.
"Is this for me? Why would you give it to me? You should keep it for yourself!"
After saying this, Yu Suihuan lowered her voice and leaned closer to Wang Zhaoran's ear to whisper, "This thing will be worth a lot in the future!"
Yu Suihuan had arrived later, so she naturally knew that a set of Siheyuan was worth only a few thousand yuan at most. But in the future, it could be worth billions!
"I'll buy another one later; I just want to give this one to you!"
Wang Zhaoran had never given anything to anyone in his life, let alone a gift to a girl. When Yu Suihuan insisted he keep it, he didn't know what to do.
"Yu Suihuan, if you don’t want it, we’ll gladly accept it!"
"Yeah, why not? It’s such a thoughtful gesture!"
The girls turned around and started teasing him. Since Yu Suihuan hadn’t shared much about her situation with them, they naturally assumed that Wang Zhaoran was Yu Suihuan’s boyfriend.
"Well then, I’ll accept it!"
Seeing Wang Zhaoran flustered was rare, and Yu Suihuan didn’t want to make things awkward between them, so she accepted the gift.
Wang Zhaoran let out a sigh of relief and felt particularly happy. He was even more excited about giving the gift than the recipient was about receiving it.
