"What should we do?" I asked Fang Bo.
"I checked with the Online Store Customer Service, and she said this bracelet is only sold in physical stores," Fang Bo replied. "Their shop is located on the busiest commercial street in the city!"
"Then let's hurry over and take a look!" I said.
Fang Bo nodded, "Alright! I'll drive there right now! Wait for me at the police station entrance!"
Fang Bo drove me to the store.
The shop was situated on a bustling commercial street.
It wasn't large, but it was elegantly decorated.
As Fang Bo and I entered the store, a staff member greeted us warmly, "Hello, sir and madam! Welcome to our store! How can I assist you today?"
Fang Bo smiled and said, "Hi! I bought a bracelet from you before, and there's been a bit of an issue. I'd like to speak with the manager."
The staff member looked at Fang Bo with suspicion, "Sir, what seems to be the problem?"
"This bracelet has a problem!" Fang Bo deliberately pulled out the bracelet to show the staff member. "The clasp is faulty! My girlfriend's wrist got scratched and turned red after wearing it!"
The staff member glanced at the bracelet in Fang Bo's hand, "Sir, you must be mistaken. This bracelet is one of our limited editions, priced at ten thousand yuan. Moreover, it is handcrafted; there shouldn't be any quality issues!"
"If you don't believe me, I can show you the identification!"
Fang Bo insisted, "I don't care! I want to file a complaint with your manager!"
The staff member helplessly replied, "Sir, our manager is not in the store. Please come back another time!"
"No way! I'm going to wait right here!" Fang Bo declared, plopping down on the sofa, determined to not leave until he got what he wanted.
With no other choice, the staff member called the manager.
Fang Bo and I sat on the sofa waiting for the manager to arrive.
The staff member brought us two cups of tea.
As we sipped our tea, we looked at the various pieces of jewelry displayed in the store while waiting for the manager.
After a while, the manager hurried in.
She was a middle-aged woman, elegantly dressed.
She glanced at us and asked, "Are you the ones looking for me?"
Fang Bo stood up with a smile, "Yes! I want to file a complaint!"
The manager frowned and asked, "How can I assist you?"
Fang Bo smiled as he took out his police badge. "We are police officers. We are here to investigate a case."
The manager was clearly taken aback. "Police? Investigating a case?"
"Yes," Fang Bo nodded with a smile. "We are currently investigating a case and need your cooperation."
The manager looked bewildered. "How can I assist you?"
Fang Bo took out a photo and handed it to the manager. "Could you tell me if you've ever sold this bracelet?"
The manager glanced at the photo. "Oh, this bracelet is one of our limited editions..."
Fang Bo then pulled out another photo and handed it to the manager. "Have you seen this person?"
The photo showed me and Fang Bo with Ma Zhaofang from a previous outing.
The manager took a look at the photo. "This person... seems a bit familiar..."
A staff member leaned in to take a look as well. "Isn't this the girl who came in before to buy a bracelet?"
Both Fang Bo and I were taken aback. "What did you say?"
The staff member thought for a moment. "Yes! That's her! She came in with a guy to buy the bracelet! That guy even helped her with her food!"
"Do you remember what they looked like?" Fang Bo asked eagerly.
"I do! The guy was quite handsome! But he looked a bit older!" the staff member replied.
