Beside Chen Chongchong stood several men in suits from Europe.
"I forgot to tell you, Ni Xingyi, Mr. John has already agreed to rent this venue to me, so you can't hold your fashion show here tomorrow," Chen Chongchong said with a smile, glancing at the middle-aged man with a scruffy beard.
Upon hearing this, Ni Xingyi immediately felt anxious.
"Mr. John, this can't be! We signed a contract!" Ni Xingyi exclaimed hurriedly.
"Miss Ni, I'm sorry, but you'll have to find another place. As for the contract, we will compensate you according to the breach of contract terms," John replied with a smile.
"This isn't just about the breach of contract! How can you act so untrustworthy? We rented this place first!" Ni Xingyi was growing desperate.
"This is just a private fashion show, not an official one. Besides, as a small designer hosting your own show, finding another venue won't affect anything. It's not like there will be any media coverage," John mocked.
Since Chen Chongchong had called the venue owner here, it was clear she had already secured his support. At this point, no matter how much Ni Xingyi argued, it was futile.
Fuming with anger, Ni Xingyi glared at Chen Chongchong as if she wanted to tear her apart.
"Chen Chongchong, is this really amusing to you?" Ni Xingyi's tone was filled with resentment as she suppressed her fury.
"It's quite amusing. By the way, Ni Xingyi, I have a show at Lirenni Garden tomorrow afternoon. You can come and take a look; many prominent figures in the design world will be there to support me. Since we were classmates, I’ll give you a free pass. Honestly, I feel sorry for you—despite your talent, you've achieved nothing so far. Don't say I didn't help you; I'm offering you an opportunity now. I've recently established a fashion design company; why don't you come work for us? If you become our fashion designer, I’ll promote your work," Chen Chongchong said with a smile.
"You must be dreaming," Ni Xingyi retorted angrily.
"If it weren't for our past as classmates, do you think I'd offer you this chance? Hosting your own fashion show at Lirenni Garden is merely a distant dream for you, while I've already held several shows there," Chen Chongchong said proudly.
"So what if you've held several shows? They haven't made much of an impact. There are things I don't want to say, but you're being too arrogant. You know very well that your design skills aren't enough to secure your place in the industry; it's all thanks to your boyfriend," Ni Xingyi shot back coldly.
Chen Chongchong's boyfriend was the world-renowned designer Kenner. Although Kenner's design talent was remarkable, his personal life was chaotic—having been divorced five times and now in his seventies, he had somehow gotten involved with Chen Chongchong again.
In recent years, Chen Chongchong had gained fame in the design world largely because of her association with Kenner. Otherwise, with her level of skill, how could she possibly host a personal fashion show at Lirenni Garden?
Yet it must be said that Chen Chongchong truly had perseverance; she was willing to associate with an older man for fame while smiling at the cameras every day. The old man's granddaughter was about the same age as her; naturally, if Chen Chongchong claimed it was true love, outsiders couldn't say much about it.
"Ha! Jealous of my connections because you have none? Ni Xingyi, I've told you before—connections are key to success in this society. The gap between us has become like heaven and earth; I can't be bothered to argue with you anymore. Tomorrow afternoon at Lirenni Garden—I hope you'll come. Your designs are outdated; it's time for you to see my stunning creations." Chen Chongchong took out an entry ticket for tomorrow from her Chanel bag and placed it on a nearby chair before turning elegantly and leaving.
