The sound that tore through the chest was like nails scraping against a blackboard, sending chills down the spine and causing a wave of nausea. A strange odor filled the air, a mix of machine oil and the scent of blood, with a hint of... despair?
Xiao Meng felt as if her CPU was about to overheat. This unfolding scenario was undoubtedly a programming glitch! The puppet of the Black-hearted Grandpa tearing itself apart? This was more maddening than writing an infinite loop in code.
Suddenly, a glimmer of light flashed in Lin Xiaoman's once vacant eyes, like a light bulb flickering back to life after a power outage. "Shaman... quickly use Xing Sha... inject it into the heart!" She struggled to utter the words, her voice hoarse as if sandpaper had rubbed against it.
Before Xiao Meng could react, several Black Tentacles shot out from Lin Xiaoman's chest. The tentacles writhed and screamed like living creatures, instantly shredding Lin Xiaoman's youthful body into pieces. The sound of "squelching" echoed, reminiscent of someone chewing on a delicious delicacy, yet utterly nauseating.
"No way, is this for real?" Xiao Meng gasped, instinctively taking a few steps back. The scene was akin to a horror movie set, especially one of those low-budget films where blood flowed freely.
Sunshine's face turned even paler as he stared intently at the Black Tentacles, his tone grave: "It's the Time-Space Termite! It's starting to materialize!"
"Time... Time Worm?" Xiao Meng looked bewildered. What kind of bizarre setting was this? Was there really a creature that fed on time and space? This concept was more outrageous than her own abs.
At that moment, Xiao Meng suddenly felt an unusual movement from the hourglass in her hand. Looking down, she saw that the Xing Sha at the bottom of the hourglass was gradually coalescing into a photograph.
In the photo were a little girl and a little boy holding hands, both smiling radiantly. The girl had two pigtails and baby fat on her cheeks—wasn't that her younger self? And the boy, though still childish in appearance, bore a faint resemblance to Sunshine in his features.
"This... what is this..." Xiao Meng's eyes widened. She had never seen this photo before, yet it felt inexplicably familiar. What shocked her even more was that there was a line written on the back of the photo in Xing Sha—a line in an ancient and mysterious script that made her head buzz just from glancing at it.
"Witch's Blood... can restart the contract..." Xiao Meng murmured to herself. The words echoed in her mind like some kind of incantation.
"I see now... I see now..." Sunshine suddenly seemed to understand something. He abruptly raised his head and looked towards the Black Tentacles. Just then, his body began to undergo a transformation.
On his once fair skin, mechanical patterns began to emerge, writhing beneath the surface like living creatures, emitting a faint blue glow.
Then, several silver mechanical tendrils extended from his back, moving with a life of their own, producing a crisp sound of metal clashing.
“Sunshine… you…” Xiao Meng was stunned; she had never seen Sunshine like this before. He looked like a mechanical warrior straight out of a sci-fi movie.
Sunshine did not respond; he silently manipulated the mechanical tendrils, wrapping them around the core of the Time-Space Termite. The tendrils coiled tightly around the core like chains forged by Xing Sha, immobilizing it completely.
At that moment, countless images suddenly flooded Xiao Meng's mind, flashing before her eyes like a rapid slideshow.
She saw herself dressed in a priestess outfit, standing on an altar and chanting ancient incantations; she saw herself in a lab coat, researching various high-tech instruments in a laboratory; she even saw herself in a magnificent princess gown, standing on a castle balcony gazing at the distant starry sky…
These images were her "Three Lifetimes of Memories," secrets hidden deep within her soul.
“So that’s how it is…” Xiao Meng finally understood why she possessed such immense power and why she was so special.
Just then, a Holographic Projection suddenly appeared before her.
In the projection, countless lines of code scrolled rapidly, shimmering like stars and appearing as complex as a labyrinth.
“What is this…” Xiao Meng wondered, puzzled by the meaning of these codes.
“This is the truth…” Sunshine's voice echoed in her ear, weak yet filled with determination.
“This is the truth behind my three hundred modifications to the Marriage Contract code; everything I did was to protect you…”
“Three hundred… modifications to the Marriage Contract code?” Xiao Meng was utterly bewildered. What on earth was this? Did she and Sunshine share some untold secret?
In the Holographic Projection, the scrolling code gradually came to a halt and finally froze on an image.
The image showed a young Sunshine sitting at a computer, his fingers flying over the keyboard with intense focus as if he were completing an incredibly important task.
On his screen was a single line of text:
“No matter the cost, I will protect you…”
“Sunshine…” Xiao Meng's eyes welled up with tears as she finally understood that Sunshine had been silently guarding her all along, even willing to alter the laws of time and space for her sake.
Sunshine's voice grew weaker; his body began to tremble slightly, and the mechanical tendrils started to lose their luster.
“Xiao Meng… hurry… use Xing Sha…” Sunshine struggled to say, his voice barely audible.
Xiao Meng took a deep breath, gripping the hourglass tightly as she felt the power of Xing Sha coursing through her. Her gaze became resolute and determined.
“I understand now…” Xiao Meng murmured to herself; she knew what she had to do.
She reached out without hesitation towards Lin Xiaoman's Mechanical Heart, which was entangled and mangled by black tendrils. Xiao Meng gritted her teeth, trembling as she slowly poured the shimmering, strange light of Xing Sha into Lin Xiaoman's battered Mechanical Heart.
That heart, rather than being a heart, resembled a twisted mass of metal and circuitry, like a pile of discarded electronic waste still crackling with electric sparks. The acrid smell surged to her head, reminiscent of burnt Activated Circuit Boards.
As soon as Xing Sha made contact with the Mechanical Heart, it ignited like gasoline meeting Star Sand Ignited, bursting forth with a dazzling light!
With a deafening boom that felt like it could shatter her eardrums, Xiao Meng felt as if she were at the front row of a concert, being battered by sound waves.
A powerful wave of energy radiated from the Mechanical Heart, spreading outward and forming a massive vortex that seemed ready to devour everything in its path.
This vortex was a riot of colors, ever-changing, as if someone had knocked over a bucket of paint; vibrant hues flowed freely in the air. It was like stepping into a Kaleidoscope world, bizarre and dazzling.
Xiao Meng felt as though she had been sucked into a washing machine drum, spinning wildly and disoriented.
At the center of the vortex, a phantom suddenly emerged. As it gradually became clearer, it revealed the image of a young man—handsome and dashing with sword-like brows and starry eyes—who was unmistakably Mu Yun in his youth!
He wore an ancient Long Robe and held a folding fan, exuding an air of elegance that seemed to have stepped out from a Historical Drama.
“Wow! This twist is more thrilling than a murder mystery game!” Xiao Meng couldn't help but internally comment. The direction of this plot was wilder than a runaway horse, catching her completely off guard.
Mu Yun's phantom moved his lips as if trying to say something, but his voice was drowned out by the roar of the vortex.
“The real Golden Finger is…” A few fragmented words broke through, muffled as if coming from behind thick frosted glass, leaving her anxious to grasp their meaning.
Just as Xiao Meng strained to hear more clearly, Mu Yun's phantom was suddenly ensnared by a Black Tentacle that had emerged from the Borer Core!
It coiled around him like a greedy python, slowly consuming his phantom piece by piece, crunching away like eating spicy strips.
“Whoa! This is too brutal!” Xiao Meng watched helplessly as Mu Yun's phantom vanished into the Black Tentacles, feeling speechless; this plot was truly “heart-wrenching”!
At that moment, the Bronze Coffin in the Parent-Teacher Conference Dome suddenly cracked open with a sharp “ka-la” sound. It was akin to nails scraping across glass—sharp and piercing—sending chills down her spine.
From within the Bronze Coffin rose an enormous figure: Black-hearted Grandpa!
But this time, Black-hearted Grandpa no longer resembled the kind old man he once was; his body had been entirely mechanized into a colossal Time Worm!
This Time Worm was massive—larger than an Aircraft Carrier—its body covered in hard metallic armor that gleamed coldly. Countless Mechanical Tentacles extended from its form like steel serpents thrashing in the air with thunderous roars as if ready to tear apart the entire world.
The scene was a perfect blend of sci-fi and horror—a spectacle more shocking than any Hollywood blockbuster!
Xiao Meng stared at this sight before her, feeling as though her worldview was being reshaped; this plot was truly a textbook example of “divine twists”!
Just then, Xiao Meng felt an overwhelming sense of familiarity wash over her; her talkative nature had returned!
“Turns out the real…” Xiao Meng opened her mouth to say something but found her voice abruptly cut off as if something had lodged in her throat. She couldn't utter a single word.
