In the year 2030, at the Dunhuang Mogao Caves, Cave 17, Su Wan stood before a holographic projection, gazing at the time-space map simulated by the Quantum Computer. Five years after the laboratory accident, she had founded the Time-Space Medical Research Center. On the wall hung a rubbing of the Priceless Prescription from the Zhenguan era, which astonishingly detailed a "Surgical Drainage Technique" identical to her published paper.
"Professor Su, abnormal energy fluctuations detected," her assistant's voice crackled through her earpiece.
Su Wan tightened her grip on the improved Electronic Watch, its display frozen at 09:47 on March 20, 2025. As she turned around, a celestial figure emerged from the mural, shimmering with golden stardust. Pei Yanzhi appeared in all his glory, still clad in the Xuan Color Cloak he wore when they first met.
"I have waited for you twenty-three Vernal Equinoxes," he said with a smile, reaching out to catch the surgical knife that slipped from Su Wan's grasp. The modern fingerprints on the blade overlapped with ancient bloodstains, creating a double-helix pattern of light.
Su Wan leaped into his arms, inhaling the familiar scent of Dragon's Blood Incense mingled with Sandalwood Flower. The holographic projection automatically generated their time-space trajectories, countless intersections blooming on the star map: the glint of blades at Xuanwu Gate, secret passages of Yeting Palace, and murals of Mogao Caves—all converging into this moment of embrace.
"The Time Rift has closed." Su Wan raised her Electronic Watch, which displayed Zhenguan Seventeenth Year, March Third. "But I have found new coordinates."
Pei Yanzhi produced half of a Tiger Tally. As it fit together with her jade pendant, the dome of Mogao Caves revealed a Double Helix Star Track. Su Wan connected the Quantum Computer to the mural's dark patterns; data flowed like ribbons of Dunhuang Flying Apsaras, entwining around them.
"This is our created Time Loop," she explained. "Each traversal leaves behind memory fragments in different times and spaces, and now..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the ground of Mogao Caves suddenly cracked open, revealing a passage leading to a Modern Laboratory. Su Wan saw her 2025 self activating the Particle Collider while Zhenguan-era Pei Yanzhi led his troops toward her.
"We can exist simultaneously in two time spaces." Pei Yanzhi pressed her hand onto the Tiger Tally. "Just like this Twin Star Orbit."
Their figures appeared in both time spaces at once. Modern Su Wan recorded data in the laboratory while Tang Dynasty Su Wan bandaged Injured Soldiers; modern Pei Yanzhi studied quantum mechanics while Tang Dynasty Pei Yanzhi pushed for new laws in court.
Every year during the Vernal Equinox, they would reunite at Cave 17 of Mogao Caves. Su Wan taught Pei Yanzhi how to use an electron microscope while he showed her the moonlit beauty of Chang'an during its golden age. When the Quantum Computer indicated that the time-space paradox index was zero, they finally understood: love itself is a singularity that transcends time and space.
In 2049, on another Vernal Equinox, Su Wan entered Mogao Caves cradling her newborn daughter. The mural now featured an image of a female doctor in traditional attire holding an infant wearing a miniature Electronic Watch. Pei Yanzhi entered through a hidden door and placed a Liuli Bottle from the Western Regions on the altar—filled with Penicillin from the Modern Laboratory.
"Our daughter will become a time-space physician," Su Wan said as she kissed away his worries. "Just like her parents, always searching for coordinates to reunite."
Outside Mogao Caves, the sound of camel bells echoed from Mingsha Mountain while Crescent Spring reflected stars from both time spaces. The Electronic Watch displayed March 21, 2049, as ribbons from the mural transformed into a galaxy connecting past and present.
