Jiang Ci quietly peeked around the door, trying to gather information. It seemed that Jiang Shiyu sensed her presence; he turned to Jiang Ci and said, "Take the director to the room to sleep." Jiang Ci nodded obediently and thoughtfully closed the door behind them. 0

Jiang Shiyu held her in his arms, sitting her on his lap. Yun Li wrapped her arms around his neck, gently wiping away the tears from the corners of her eyes. 0

"Did you ever get bitten by a dog when you were a child? Why are you so afraid?" 0

Yun Li lowered her gaze, recalling an incident from when she was eight years old. At that time, she had appeared on the local television show, Dolphin Show. She and her parents lived in a small alley, and suddenly she became a little star in everyone’s eyes. People praised her whenever they met. 0

One child in her age group, who was being scolded by his parents for being naughty, used Yun Li as an example of how to behave. He was not convinced and secretly lured her into a narrow alley where his dog, A Huang, would scare her. 0

A Huang looked fierce and was quite large. Although it was on a leash, the boy deliberately let A Huang bark at her. Yun Li remembered that the dog’s mouth was just a few centimeters away from her face; she could see its yellowed, sharp teeth and its menacing expression as if it wanted to eat her alive. 0

That moment marked the beginning of an inexplicable fear of all animals for her. Even after many years, that fear lingered on. As she spoke about it, tears streamed down her face uncontrollably, and her body trembled more violently. 0

Jiang Shiyu gazed at her and gently wiped away her tears. 0

Her parents had gone to confront the boy's family, but since A Huang hadn’t actually bitten her—only frightened her—they merely apologized. After the incident, Yun Li fell seriously ill with a high fever that wouldn’t subside. Her parents feared she might lose her mind; even after going to the hospital, nothing changed. 0

Later on, her father heard about a folk remedy and went to a temple to pray for her health. He even had a master calculate her fate. The master told them that their current living situation was filled with negative energy and that the dog had been the catalyst for it; if they didn’t move soon, she would be in grave danger. 0

Believing the master’s words, her father immediately decided to move. They ended up buying a house in haste. Miraculously, after moving away, Yun Li began to recover. 0

After wiping away all of Yun Li's tears, Jiang Shiyu's deep black eyes revealed no hint of emotion as he said softly, "We’ve wronged Hao Hao." 0

Yun Li shook her head. "Jiang Shiyu, don’t send it back. I wasn’t prepared just now, and I didn’t expect a dog to rush at me. Now I know I just need to be a little more careful." 0

Jiang Shiyu pinched her cheek gently. "Don’t force yourself for my sake. No matter how careful you are, you’ll still see it. As long as you don’t let it rush at you like before, it’ll be fine." 0

"The director has been with you for many years. I don’t want to abandon it because of you." 0

Yun Li spoke urgently, fully aware of the importance of the director to Jiang Shiyu. Although she was afraid of dogs, seeing a cute one would soften her heart; she had love for them, just not the courage. 0

Jiang Shiyu locked his deep gaze onto her, his voice low. "How does Hao Hao know that the director has been with me for so many years?" 0

Yun Li was taken aback, her eyes slightly reddening as she hadn’t expected Jiang Shiyu’s focus to be on that. She clenched her palms tightly, her gaze flickering as she guessed, "I can tell just by looking at the director; he’s an old dog." 0

Jiang Shiyu didn’t press further and laid her down on the bed. Yun Li pulled the blanket over herself and said to him, "Go check on Jiang Ci and the director; they must have been scared too." 0

"Alright." 0

As Jiang Shiyu walked out, Yun Li wrapped herself tightly in the air-conditioned blanket, revealing a pair of dark, sparkling eyes in the dimness. She knew it would turn out this way; she just hadn’t expected her first meeting with the director to be like this. 0

With her gaze cast downwards, she turned over, feeling no trace of sleepiness. 0

Jiang Ci obediently took off his clothes and sat on the bed, chatting with the director. 0

"Don’t be sad," the Old Director said. "Your sister definitely doesn’t hate you; she just doesn’t like you." 0
