On the way down the mountain, Jiang Shiyu tightly held Yun's hand. Yun felt uncomfortable underfoot; they had been walking for nearly two hours, exploring the entire park.
"What wish did you make in front of the Bodhisattva?" Jiang Shiyu gazed deeply at her, his dark pupils reflecting Yun's bright and lively face. He playfully pinched her nose and said, "If I say it out loud, it won't come true."
"Oh!" Yun looked down at the winding and complex steps beneath them. "I wished to be with you forever. The Bodhisattva should have heard me." She pondered many possibilities about what he might have wished for—was it related to her, or perhaps a wish for his family's health?
Jiang Shiyu smiled gently. "Of course it was to be with you forever, silly."
Back at the hotel, Yun didn't want to move. The two of them watched TV together for a while as the sky gradually darkened, then they went out for dinner. They decided to try the local specialty hot pot.
It had a bit of an unpleasant smell, and the environment was just average. Sitting across from each other at the hot pot table, they watched as the owner prepared the broth, which initially smelled quite fragrant but turned foul after he added something resembling beans.
Jiang Shiyu frowned, clearly showing his distaste. When the owner poured in the broth, Yun quietly suggested, "Should we try another place?" She knew Jiang Shiyu was particular about food, and given the poor environment and foul-smelling broth, she worried he wouldn't be able to eat.
"It's fine; we should be able to manage," he replied. "Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to continue. Let's just experience the local food culture."
Once the broth began bubbling vigorously, they started adding ingredients. Yun took a bite of lean meat and her eyes lit up with surprise. "It smells bad, but it tastes really good!"
Jiang Shiyu picked up a piece of tofu hesitantly. Under Yun's expectant gaze, he took a bite. The tofu was tender and very hot; at first, he couldn't discern much flavor.
The flavor was not surprising as he scooped up another piece of meat, finally tasting the essence of the hot pot. Unlike the beef tallow hot pot, this flavor was richer yet not overwhelmingly greasy, belonging to the sauce-flavored variety.
Yun broke into a sweat and got up to grab two bottles of drinks from the fridge. She opened one and took a sip of soda, feeling refreshed.
Seeing her chin smeared with oil, Jiang Shiyu pulled out a tissue and stood up to wipe it for her. "You look like a little raccoon turned into a little calico cat."
After finishing their meal, the two took a stroll in a nearby park. The river shimmered under the orange-yellow glow of the streetlights, and the evening breeze carried a hint of coolness, drying the sweat on their bodies.
In front of a landmark building, Yun took out her phone and asked him to take a picture of her. "Just get my upper body in the shot, and leave plenty of space behind me so I look smaller."
Jiang Shiyu chuckled, "If you make yourself too small, you won’t be visible at all."
He found an angle and snapped several pictures. The building behind them radiated a golden light that cast a warm glow over Yun, making her look stunning without needing any special adjustments.
Yun glanced at the photos and felt quite satisfied. Suddenly, she felt an arm around her shoulders and looked up to see Jiang Shiyu lifting his phone, pulling her into his embrace as he pressed the shutter button.
In the photo, Jiang Shiyu's lips curled into a smile, his deep Peach Blossom Eyes illuminated by the warm light. In his arms, Yun held her phone with a dazed expression in her eyes. Her features were delicate yet vibrant, her beautiful profile accentuated by a blue headband that added an air of sweetness.
Her long neck and flowing black hair fell gracefully over her shoulders, while her slender collarbone and delicate shoulders were held gently by his large hands with prominent knuckles.
Jiang Shiyu grinned as he admired the photo. "Yun, your gaze is too revealing; you should be a bit more reserved in public—it’s kind of intimidating."
Yun blinked in confusion and lightly tiptoed closer to see. "What are you talking about? I’m perfectly normal!"
With her head adorned with the blue headband leaning against his chin, he felt a tickle in his throat and instinctively lowered his head to kiss the top of her head. "Then why does it make me want to kiss you so much? Are you sure you're not trying to seduce me?"
Understanding his words, Yun pushed him playfully while suppressing a smile. "You’re being ridiculous."
Back at the hotel, Yun headed to the bathroom for a shower.
Jiang Shiyu opened Yun's phone, intending to transfer the photos they had just taken to his own device. He noticed that she had saved him under the name "Yu."
As he entered their chat page, a new message popped up from Shu Ran at the top.
