The car drove into the community, and as soon as it stopped, Yun unbuckled her seatbelt and hurriedly ran back. Behind her, Jiang Shiyu followed closely, the sound of the wind and the laughter of children and elderly people playing in the neighborhood filled her ears, mingling with the sound of her own fearful footsteps. 0

Entering the elevator, just as the doors closed, it opened again. Jiang Shiyu's tall figure appeared in Yun's line of sight; his face was dark as he stepped inside and pressed the button, causing the doors to close once more. 0

Yun's eyes were red, her breathing a bit rapid. "What do you want?" she asked. 0

Jiang Shiyu's black eyes were fixed on her; he remained silent, the atmosphere heavy with tension. Since he wasn’t speaking, Yun turned her head away to avoid looking at him. 0

When they reached the tenth floor, Yun pushed through the heavy door and took out her keys from her bag. But in the next moment, she was forcefully stopped; her keys fell to the ground with a crisp sound as she stumbled backward, pushed into a corner of the hallway with his arm blocking her back against the wall. 0

The hallway light flickered on for a moment, allowing Yun to see his expression clearly. His eyes were deep and intense, his brows furrowed, and his pupils seemed to contain only her. It made her feel uncomfortable, as if he were about to swallow her whole. 0

Yun’s breathing became erratic, her voice trembling. "You’re really sick! You’re insane!" 0

Jiang Shiyu's face tightened at her words. Suddenly, he let out a soft laugh that felt cold and echoed in the dim hallway. "So you’re not going to listen when I speak?" 0

Yun felt a wave of grievance wash over her. Why should everything he said be taken as law? Her voice shook with a hint of sobs. "You forced my hand back then, and now you’re here to entangle me again." 0

"You tease me when you remember, but when you don’t like it anymore, you just toss me aside. Am I just a plaything?" 0

Jiang Shiyu’s cold demeanor faltered for a moment. An indescribable emotion crept into his voice as he said, "Hao Hao, I’m sorry." 0

"Don’t call me Hao Hao; you don’t deserve it." Her voice trembled with certainty and finality. The name Hao Hao held significant meaning for her—it was filled with the hopes of her parents. He had hurt them; therefore, he didn’t deserve to call her by that name. 0

Pain filled Jiang Shiyu's eyes. He wanted to say that she wasn’t just anyone; she was his most cherished treasure. It was he who had wronged her; he was the one at fault. 0

Yun didn’t want to see that look; it made her feel like she was the true sinner. She turned away, biting down on her lip, but couldn’t control the tremor in her chin. 0

Jiang Shiyu pulled her into his embrace, burying his head in the crook of her neck. His eyelashes brushed against her delicate skin, sending an unbearable itch through her. 0

Yun’s fingertips clutched at the thin fabric of his shirt, trying to create some distance between them, but Jiang Shiyu wouldn’t allow it. He insisted on holding on tightly. 0

He cast aside all his pride before her. No matter how harshly Yun spoke to him, he would not let go. 0

He knew that once he let go, he would truly have no chance; he would disappear from her world. Other men would enter her life, and he would never have the opportunity to be with her again. 0

Perhaps it was the cold air in the hallway that made her shoulders feel a bit chilly, while his body pressed against hers was warm. His hot palms covered her smooth, delicate shoulders, dispelling the cold. 0

His voice trembled with unspoken pain as he said, "Just hold me for a moment." 0

He felt a bit weary; the burdens of the past years weighed heavily on him. He constantly wanted to confide in her, to express how much he missed her, hoping she would give him a hug to ease the pressure building inside him. He knew he had hurt her, which made him even less willing to let go. He wanted to make amends; all the pain he felt was deserved. 0

He didn't know how long they held each other, but soon their bodies began to sweat, the heat making their clothes cling to their skin. 0

Slowly, he lifted his head and met her gaze. Her eyes were moist, and her long eyelashes were dampened by tears. He wiped away the traces of tears from her cheeks and tried to sound casual as he said, "I'll be very busy from now on. You be good; I'll come find you whenever I can." 0

Yun didn't respond, and he didn't expect her to. He took Yun's hand and led her out of the hallway, picking up the keys from the floor to unlock the door for her before placing them in her palm. 0

"Go inside! Get some rest," he urged. 0

Yun set down her bag and went into the bathroom to take a shower. Just as she finished and was drying her hair, the doorbell rang. 0

She hesitated for a moment before grabbing her pepper spray and walking over to peek through the peephole. It was Jiang Shiyu—hadn't he just left? 0

Confused, she picked up her phone and sent him a message: "What are you doing here again?" 0

"I'm bringing you dinner." 0

How did he know I hadn't eaten? 0

Yun declined, "No need, I've already eaten." 0
