As Lu Ziye gazed at his comprehensive panel, his heart stirred with excitement.
It was incredible; if it weren't for his high level, the Mechanical Beasts he had defeated yesterday would have at least granted him a boost in attack speed. However, this made sense—he needed to eliminate Mechanical Beasts of a level equal to or higher than his own to gain such rewards. Otherwise, Lu Ziye would still be lingering in the White Zone, stacking up experience for a year and a half before launching a direct assault on the Mechanical Beast lair.
In terms of levels, despite having taken down many lower-level Mechanical Beasts yesterday, he had still surged close to the next tier. The upgrade of his Energy Core was also significant, affecting his energy intensity and output power. With each level increase, Lu Ziye felt the mecha's attacks becoming more ferocious.
This enhancement in power, combined with his increased attack speed, made it impossible for his Firepower Index not to skyrocket. The two effects multiplied together were like a young cow on a rocket—astounding beyond belief.
He had replaced the High Carbon Alloy with an even sturdier version, raising the mecha's height by a meter and more than doubling its mass to ten thousand tons. This meant that Lu Ziye now possessed greater durability and resistance to damage. However, with Lu Ziye's frenzied attack speed and formidable firepower, he wouldn't easily let his mecha get hurt; the High Carbon Alloy defense was merely a last line of defense—a means of survival.
Just like yesterday, when that Patrol Team was besieged by the Beast Tide for so long and hit numerous times yet remained steadfast, it was because their mecha materials were quite good and could take a beating. Against lower-level Mechanical Beasts, with superior materials, they naturally lasted longer.
The close-combat Wu Yan units had also upgraded to Razer Military Grade, with Military Commander specifications. This type of military unit still employed energy-guided attacks but operated with much higher efficiency than the Blood Cry Army, achieving rapid strike frequencies that could be enhanced by Lu Ziye's additional attack speed bonuses for instant kills.
However, Lu Ziye did not replace his main Wu Yan unit. Although he had access to better quality Level Weapons, the difference wasn't significant enough to warrant a change. Since he was heading into the Gray Zone, Lu Ziye planned to acquire a higher-level main Wu Yan to accelerate his hunting efficiency. The power and energy conversion efficiency of Level Weapons would greatly improve—just thinking about it was exhilarating.
In addition to this, the mecha's Power Component had been upgraded to an Imitation Plasma Engine level, which was far more advanced than a turbo fan power device and provided significantly enhanced mobility for the mecha. Recent simulation tests indicated that his mecha could achieve speeds of several kilometers per hour and leap to heights of several meters under boost conditions.
In summary: he still couldn't fly; it remained a ground-based machine!
Moreover, his Situational Awareness Range had expanded to several kilometers—a massive area that could cover several small provinces—exceeding Lu Ziye's firepower strike range. With his Level Energy Core and main Wu Yan's Violent Cannon now boasting a range of several kilometers, there would be some attenuation at this distance. Once he replaced his Level Weapon, the range would increase significantly.
After all, the design philosophy of the Raider Mech was not focused on long-range strikes but rather on assault capabilities; its primary firepower source was intended for mid-to-close range engagements.
"Brother Lu! Brother Lu!" A chorus of calls broke through Lu Ziye's thoughts. He turned to see Wan Hao and Cai Ji entering the Hangar, each carrying a bottle of Happy Water and a few buckets of fried chicken.
Lu Ziye stepped out of the mech and looked at them. "What brings you here?"
"Brother Lu, that's not fair! You're heading to the Gray Zone and didn't even tell us," Wan Hao said, placing the food on the table and playfully punching Lu Ziye in the chest.
"Brother Lu, you sent us Components and High Carbon Alloys! We ended up with a complete set of Level Components without doing anything. What are we going to do if our tastes get spoiled?" Cai Ji exclaimed, his face filled with excitement.
"Thank you, Brother Lu!" they both said earnestly in unison.
"Why are you thanking me? Those Components aren't worth much, but they're crucial for you. And you two reckless fools actually piloted a mech to sneak out and rescue me? How dare you! Not to mention the dangers outside—what if Lin Wu had caught you? You would have been beaten to a pulp! Luckily, Lin Wu didn't hold it against you this time."
When Lu Ziye learned that these two simpletons had secretly taken a mech to break out of the camp in search of him, he felt both touched and exasperated.
It was touching because in this world filled with danger, it was rare to find someone willing to go through fire and water for you.
