Outside the Mechanical Nest, the members of the assault team maintained a vigilant formation. Captain Wang Yong noticed signals from two other teams appearing on the Radar and began to establish contact with them.
Along the way, Lu Ziye observed that the Radar displayed a dense concentration of Mechanical Beasts, indicating a complex situation. Before arriving at this location, Lu Ziye's squad had traversed a powerful Mechanical Beast-controlled area under the cover of a battalion-level military unit. This demonstrated the complexity of battles in the Gray Zone and the high level of coordination required, which was why all of humanity had to engage in joint operations.
During their journey, Lu Ziye also eliminated dozens of nearby Mechanical Beasts, leveling up and breaking through his Firepower Index, which further enhanced his capabilities and attack speed.
The Dragon Kingdom assault team was ready and requested allied forces to report their status. The Eagle Sauce Nation assault team confirmed their readiness to launch an attack at the scheduled time. The Sakura Zai assault team also reported their readiness for the planned offensive. After communication among the three parties, they decided to proceed with the attack as scheduled.
Wang Yong turned to his teammates and said seriously, "Once we enter the Beast Nest, no matter what situation we encounter, do not stray from the team. Maintain formation. I can ensure everyone's safety. The depths of the Beast Nest are underground, and the Mechanical Nest is constructed with special Metal Coating to obscure human detection from aerial reconnaissance and to block human communication signals. After we enter, we will rely solely on visual range for communication through loudspeakers or gestures. Stay close to me; is that understood?"
"Understood!" all members replied in unison.
Although the Beast Nest was underground, it should not be mistaken for a small cave. It was a vast underground world, a high-level combat zone that was as expansive as the surface above, with interconnected Beast Nests.
The entrance to the Beast Nest that Lu Ziye's squad entered was an impressive four hundred meters high and wide. This was just the entrance; once inside, an entirely different scene unfolded—an expansive space that seemed endless.
The inner walls of the Mechanical Nest were not made of dirt or rock as one might imagine but rather gleaming silver metal barriers—the Metal Coating that could block signals as mentioned by their captain. The ground was also metallic and extremely smooth, adorned with various devices and instruments used by Mechanical Beasts meticulously embedded into the metal walls.
"Are these Mechanical Beasts obsessive about cleanliness?" Lu Ziye thought to himself.
The squad spread out according to their combat formation when suddenly a dozen Mechanical Beasts surged forward, all at level 5. Wang Yong prepared to issue a kill order.
Before he could even finish his command, Lu Ziye raised his hand and unleashed a barrage of hundreds of Energy Shells in a second, obliterating all of the approaching Mechanical Beasts instantly.
This display left everyone in shock.
"What just happened?" someone exclaimed in disbelief. "I barely lifted my hand and those Mechanical Beasts went down? For a moment there, I thought I had mastered some kind of arcane power!"
When we arrived, I was worried that there would be too many Mechanical Beasts, and that the pressure would be overwhelming, leading to mistakes. Now, I worry there are too few Mechanical Beasts, and that the leaders in our team won't be able to fully unleash their potential.
So, what should we do?
Everyone, don’t lose hope. We are important too; without us, even the strongest leaders wouldn’t be able to form a proper Squad.
As young people, we began to exchange witty remarks and tease each other. The presence of strong leaders made everyone happy; it meant that the safety factor for this mission had skyrocketed. The atmosphere lightened instantly, and the tension in everyone's hearts eased significantly.
Captain Wang Yong took a new look at Lu Ziye, the superior he was tasked with protecting. He realized he had severely underestimated Lu's strength.
As the Squad continued to delve deeper, the situation quickly changed. The frequency of Mechanical Beasts appeared to increase, and their numbers multiplied, with Elite Mechanical Beasts also joining the fray.
However, Lu Ziye showed no signs of fear. After experiencing the Beast Tide, he understood that fortune favors the bold. With this level of density, it was unlikely to pose a challenge for their team. Moreover, the top-tier leaders hadn’t even made a move yet.
Wang Yong observed the situation before him and fell into deep thought: The density of Mechanical Beasts shouldn’t be this high. Yet now he couldn’t contact the other two teams. If it weren’t for Lu Ziye’s formidable display of strength, Wang Yong would have certainly chosen to send two people out of the Beast Nest to assess the situation.
In another direction of the Mechanical Nest, Eagle Sauce and Sakura Zai’s assault teams had just entered when they heard a series of eerie roars coming from behind them.
Less than a hundred meters into the Mechanical Nest, they were shocked to find themselves surrounded. In front were weaker Mechanical Beasts from within the Beast Tide, while stronger Mechanical Beasts surged in from outside. They had no capacity to resist this onslaught.
Only the captains of the two teams could barely hold their ground; all other team members fell during the first encounter—either severely injured or outright killed.
