The attack speed had increased significantly, combining with the weapon's original speed to create a formidable force. Once upon a time, Lu Ziye had been mocked by the Hundredfold Attack Speed, but now he had surpassed those who once laughed at him, leaving them unqualified to compete alongside him.
The battle within the cave had reached a fever pitch. Lu Ziye and Wang Yong fought fiercely, pushing back the majority of the Mechanical Beasts, while the remaining ones were swiftly eliminated by their teammates. Lu Ziye was astonished to discover that each Mechanical Beast he defeated granted him a Soul Crystal, and his collection of Soul Crystals was rapidly increasing—he had already amassed ten thousand.
He couldn't help but think of the cherry blossoms that had gifted him a thousand. Gathering Wan Soul Crystals was Lu Ziye's goal for the day; with Wan Soul Crystals in hand, he could upgrade his Main Weapon and arrange for Level Weapons. Just imagining the firepower he would wield sent a thrill through him.
As Lu Ziye's attack speed continued to rise, the pressure from the Mechanical Beasts behind him diminished. Most of the Mechanical Beasts had come through two other entrances, so there were fewer high-level Mechanical Beasts in his vicinity. While Lu Ziye found himself becoming more comfortable, Wang Yong's burden grew heavier.
Noticing this, Lu Ziye quickened his pace and charged into the swarm of Mechanical Beasts. With his Blood Cry Sabre and cannon firing in unison, he aimed to quickly eliminate the beasts behind him and rush to aid his captain. One by one, the Mechanical Beasts fell before his charge until finally, one managed to block his Zhan Dao with a single claw while swiftly counterattacking, forcing Lu Ziye to retreat repeatedly.
An Elite Mechanical Beast—a Mechanical Bone Dragon—had arrived to assist Wang Yong. It seemed to have recognized that the battle was becoming increasingly stalemated and rushed over as reinforcements. Its arrival alleviated some of Wang Yong's pressure, but he worried about whether Lu Ziye could hold on.
The Mechanical Bone Dragon was nothing but a skeleton with an enormous energy cannon mounted on its back—a terrifying sight indeed. To make matters worse, its material was incredibly tough; Lu Ziye’s previous strike had only left a mark on its bones. Even his powerful Razer Blade could only inflict minimal damage, making it clear that this battle would be challenging.
There was no time for further contemplation as the massive firepower from the cannon surged toward the Mechanical Bone Dragon. The weak repulsion effect caused it to momentarily retreat.
With a roar, the Mechanical Bone Dragon unleashed a deafening cry as its massive cannon quickly charged up, releasing an energy beam that hurtled toward them.
“Brother Lu, be careful!” Two high-level Guardian Mechas quickly combined their shields to block the beam while propelling themselves away from the impact zone.
Lu Ziye could see that these two were also made of Level Material and appeared to possess defensive enhancements; miraculously, they survived such a devastating blow.
Without wasting a moment, Lu Ziye leaped into the air with his Zhan Dao drawn. The Razer Blade pierced into the eye socket of the Mechanical Bone Dragon, unleashing violent energy ripples while merciless Energy Shells rained down upon it. The Mechanical Bone Dragon howled in agony as its body thrashed violently.
Lu Ziye rolled over and landed, unleashing another barrage of attacks on the abdomen of the Mechanical Bone Dragon. After two rounds of assault, cracks began to appear in the dragon's skeletal frame, some extending several meters deep. The Roarer Mech from the strike team also joined the fray, and everyone focused their fire on the Mechanical Bone Dragon. Although their attacks were minimal, the increased frequency helped undermine the confidence of the Mechanical Beast and distracted the Mechanical Bone Dragon.
Back at the Blue Star Joint Command Center, the Eagle Sauce Nation Commander anxiously awaited news from the front lines. They desperately hoped to receive reports stating that an assault on a certain Mechanical Nest had failed, and that the joint operation involving the Dragon Kingdom, Eagle Sauce, Sakura, and other nations had been declared a failure. In this battle, all participating soldiers had demonstrated exceptional combat prowess, and they would be remembered forever.
"This time, we must drag them down with us even if it costs our own people. We cannot afford any mistakes," worried the Sakura Country Commander. According to their calculations, if the Advanced Mechanical Beast had truly infiltrated that Beast Nest, a single strike team from the Dragon Kingdom would not be able to withstand it. By now, they should have received reports of total annihilation.
"I didn't expect that captain from the Dragon Kingdom to be so powerful; he has held out for so long," remarked the Asan Country Commander.
"Don't worry; it's all in vain. I have his data. His Firepower Index is decent, but there's no way one person can hold out against us. We will wait for good news," came the reply just as a knock echoed through the room.
Excitedly, several of them stood up. "Come in!"
An assistant hurried into the meeting room. "Gentlemen, you asked me to monitor the situation, and I have results."
"Quickly tell us!" The Eagle Sauce Nation Commander could hardly contain his impatience.
"Reporting to Commander: The Eagle Sauce strike team and Sakura strike team have all perished. An unexpected incident occurred during their operation, attracting attention from another Mechanical Beast Nest on the right flank. They were surrounded and unable to escape; all personnel were killed in action, but they fought valiantly."
A wave of delight washed over them; it seemed their plan had succeeded.
"Cough! War inevitably has its surprises. This joint operation involved three parties; draft an obituary honoring the soldiers from all three nations who participated with a posthumous Blue Star Courage Medal and provide compensation. Announce to the entire military that they should learn from them," said the Eagle Sauce Nation Commander, feeling pleased as he raised the standards for this aftermath.
However, after a moment of hesitation, the assistant replied solemnly, " Commander, you misunderstood me. I only meant that the Eagle Sauce and Sakura soldiers sacrificed themselves; this operation did not fail. The Dragon Kingdom's strike team turned the tide and eliminated all Mechanical Beasts. They paid a heavy price in injuries but have now returned to the Blue Star Joint Command Center. The Dragon Kingdom is preparing to award them with honors."
