This round of upgrades allowed him to replace all components of the Raider Mech with high-quality Advanced Components, significantly enhancing its combat capabilities.
Additionally, Lu Ziye's Soul Crystal count surpassed ten thousand, primarily obtained by selling off components he no longer needed. The large Mechanical Arm in the Hangar roared continuously, and to Lu Ziye, these sounds were incredibly pleasant. These giant machines were a source of fascination for every boy.
The Mechanical Arm, several meters long, shot out flames of extreme heat as it carried out layer upon layer of modifications on the mech. Various precision devices worked in unison, and the entire Hangar became a hive of activity.
"Xiao Lu, I knew you would be here," came a voice from outside the Hangar. A giant mech approached; it was Legion Commander Liu Tianwei and Xiao Ming, who seemed to have rushed over from somewhere to pilot the mech.
Once Xiao Ming reached the Hangar, he descended from the Cockpit and walked up to Lu Ziye. "Commander, are you feeling better? You can pilot a mech now?" Lu Ziye asked happily.
Xiao Ming shook his head. "I can only say it's so-so. The underlying issues will likely remain for a lifetime. There's no choice; the situation is becoming increasingly critical, and I can't afford to worry about that anymore."
"What happened?" Lu Ziye inquired.
"You should understand the saying: 'A tall tree attracts the wind.' The Dragon Kingdom has been gaining momentum recently and has thoroughly suppressed other countries. Coupled with your astonishing performance, other nations are feeling increasingly threatened. Today, they decided to take down the Red Zone without leaving any opportunities for the Dragon Kingdom. They fear that if things continue developing this way, the Dragon Kingdom will dominate all regions," Xiao Ming explained to Lu Ziye without holding back.
"Based on your assessment, do they have that capability?"
"They didn't before, but now it's hard to say," Xiao Ming frowned.
"Why do you say that?" Lu Ziye asked in confusion.
"They've abandoned the defenses of the Black Zone and have withdrawn their elite forces to attack the Red Zone's Star Gate," Xiao Ming expressed his concerns.
"How can they do that? What if the Black Zone Abyss revolts?" Lu Ziye was also taken aback by their reckless actions.
"The revolts in the Black Zone follow a certain pattern; previously, no one wanted to take risks based on that pattern. But now, they seem to have disregarded everything. They are betting that before they capture the Red Zone, there won't be a revolt in the Black Zone. The recent successes of the Dragon Kingdom have made them suspicious of us; my authority is declining. People tend to go crazy when it comes to interests," Xiao Ming said, not surprised by their actions. It was precisely because he understood them that he had been supporting Lu Ziye's bold expansion; after all, a break was inevitable sooner or later, and it was better to hold more leverage himself.
"What should we do then? If the Black Zone really revolts, we can't just stand by while those terrifying Mechanical Beasts wreak havoc on humanity, can we?" Lu Ziye knew that since Legion Commander Liu Tianwei had come looking for him, there must be a plan in place.
"I want to use the Dragon Rising Legion to defend against the Black Zone Abyss. Can you come with me?" Xiao Ming looked at Lu Ziye.
"Has Legion Commander Liu Tianwei forgotten? I am also a member of the Dragon Rising Legion. If the legion has combat missions, I should obey orders. You just need to give me commands; there's no need to consult me," Lu Ziye said this to elevate Xiao Ming's prestige, especially since this legendary Legion Commander was experiencing one of his lowest points in life—injured and under scrutiny from Commander of other nations.
"Very well! Once you've finished modifying your mech, report directly to the Black Zone," Xiao Ming said as he patted Lu Ziye on the shoulder with a look of satisfaction.
"Yes, Legion Commander Liu Tianwei!" Lu Ziye stood at attention and saluted with a standard military gesture.
"You little rascal; you know how to make people happy," Xiao Ming laughed as he boarded his mech and soared towards the Black Zone.
This time, the complete overhaul would take an hour. Lu Ziye lay in the Hangar lounge, patiently waiting.
A question lingered in Lu Ziye's mind: why could the Ancient-Class Mechanical Beasts absorb the power of Soul Crystals? Why couldn't humans traverse the Star Gate? Did the Black Zone Abyss hide these secrets? And where had all those Ancient-Class Mechanical Beasts gone? What was their purpose in capturing humans? Was it merely to enhance their own strength, or was it to resurrect Ancient Mechanical Beasts through human Mechanics?
So many mysteries awaited revelation. As Lu Ziye pondered these thoughts, he eventually drifted off to sleep, only to be awakened by the alert sound indicating that the overhaul was complete.
"Modification completed. Please have the Mechanic verify."
Lu Ziye rolled off the sofa, climbed into the mech, and prepared to assess the results of this latest modification.
