In the Wang Wei Secret Service Agency, the air seemed saturated with conspiracy and suspicion, each breath tinged with a pungent scent of decay. The power struggle between Leader A and Leader B was like a malignant tumor, growing unchecked in the dark corners, further complicating the already murky environment.
Leader A was short and stout, his face lined with excess flesh. He often relied on his connections with high-ranking Japanese officers to bully others in the agency and amass wealth. In contrast, Leader B was thin and sharp-eyed, cunning and adept at playing dirty tricks behind the scenes. While he appeared to obey the Japanese officers, he secretly plotted to use various factions to elevate his own status. Their open and covert battles had persisted for some time, with their subordinates divided into two factions, each keeping a watchful eye on the other. Any slight disturbance could trigger a significant uproar.
Lin Feng moved through this treacherous landscape with calm composure, keenly observing everything around him. He understood that by skillfully exploiting the conflict between these two leaders, he could not only carve out more maneuvering space for himself in this den of danger but also potentially deliver a fatal blow to his enemies, creating opportunities for the organization. Thus, a bold and intricate plan quietly formed in his mind.
One day, Lin Feng seized an opportunity when he noticed Leader A alone in his office, reviewing documents with an irritated expression. He feigned urgency and approached cautiously, letting a hint of casualness slip into his voice as he said softly, "Chief, I happened to overhear something. It seems that Leader B is colluding with people from the Chongqing Military Command behind our backs. I heard he plans to use our intelligence from Wang Wei to gain credit for himself. If he succeeds, our future won't look good."
Leader A's face darkened instantly at this revelation; he snapped his pen in half and gritted his teeth, "That traitor! I knew he had ulterior motives!"
Lin Feng felt a surge of satisfaction within but maintained an impassive exterior as he continued to stoke the flames: "You must be cautious, Chief. His recent activities have been frequent; who knows when he'll strike us from behind?" With that, he respectfully withdrew, leaving Leader A pacing furiously in his office, eyes filled with rage and calculation.
As soon as Lin Feng left Leader A's office, he headed straight for Leader B. Leader B was deep in discussion with several trusted aides when Lin Feng entered; he cast a wary glance at him. Lin Feng forced a smile and lowered his voice as if sharing a secret: "Sir, I couldn't stand by any longer; I came to give you a heads-up. That Leader A has been badmouthing you to the Japanese officers and is planning to monopolize the upcoming project with Military Intelligence. Think about it—we work hard for this agency while he climbs over us."
Leader B's already cold gaze turned even icier as he scoffed, "He dares! I'll show him just how capable he really is."
Sure enough, both sides soon fell into Lin Feng's trap. First, Leader A couldn't contain himself and sent several subordinates to provoke trouble on Leader B's turf. They deliberately sought confrontation outside the document room under Leader B's jurisdiction, causing chaos by pretending to accidentally knock over file cabinets and scatter documents everywhere. Leader B's subordinates were unwilling to back down and rushed out to confront them; soon enough, words escalated into a physical fight.
Not wanting to be outdone, Leader B instructed his trusted aides to surround Leader A's interrogation room and accuse them of harboring important prisoners. The scene quickly devolved into chaos as both sides shoved and pulled at each other. The entire Wang Wei Intelligence Agency erupted into turmoil—shouts and curses mingled together as long-suppressed tensions exploded like a volcano.
Lin Feng feigned anxiety while observing from the sidelines, carefully watching everyone's movements for the best moment to relay information. As everyone's attention was drawn to the brawl, he quietly approached the secure Communication Room. Inside, a junior agent was frantically trying to manage the chaos outside. Seizing the opportunity, Lin Feng swiftly placed a pre-prepared microfilm containing recent intelligence on Japanese troop movements into what appeared to be an ordinary document before pretending to help organize files and cleverly mixing it into outgoing correspondence. These letters would be sent through regular channels from Wang Wei Intelligence Agency, with contacts already arranged by the organization to ensure successful delivery of the intelligence.
At the same time, Lin Feng also kept an eye out for evidence of corruption within Wang Wei. During his feigned attempts at mediation, he intentionally knocked over some furniture as an excuse to rummage through drawers for documents related to corruption cases and internal communications. He stashed these findings in hidden pockets within his clothing. If exposed, this evidence could not only tarnish Wang Wei's image among the public but also provide substantial support for undermining their enemies.
The fighting continued for quite some time until senior Japanese officers arrived upon hearing the commotion and forcibly intervened. The Japanese Army Commander was furious; he publicly reprimanded both Leaders A and B for their actions and ordered them to rectify their behavior or face severe punishment. Though both leaders harbored resentment towards each other, they dared not retaliate in front of the Japanese officers; they could only nod in agreement while seething internally.
Standing aside watching this unfold, Lin Feng silently celebrated the successful execution of his plan. By orchestrating this internal strife and creating chaos among his enemies while sending out crucial intelligence and gathering important evidence for himself, he had achieved significant progress. However, he knew that his actions would inevitably raise suspicions among some individuals; in the days ahead, danger would only increase. But for the sake of that glimmer of hope in his heart—to drive out the Japanese invaders from China—he had no choice but to navigate each challenge with greater caution and wit while continuing to lurk within this dark enemy stronghold.
