The night sky over Shanghai was shrouded in the haze of war and intrigue, as the conflict between the American Side and Rinji raged fiercely. Gunfire and chaotic shouts echoed through the streets, plunging the entire city into a hellish turmoil. Yet Lin Feng moved like a ghost hidden in the darkness, weaving through the chaos, poised to strike at his next target: the secure file room.
This room was located three floors underground in the Wang Wei Secret Service Agency building, heavily guarded at all times. Armed sentinels patrolled the entrance, while advanced alarm systems surrounded the area. Any disturbance would trigger mechanisms that would summon a horde of enemies. However, Lin Feng was no stranger to this place; during his long years of lurking, he had taken advantage of mission opportunities to observe the layout of the secure room, the guard rotation patterns, and the details of the security system. All these observations would now serve as his powerful allies in overcoming the challenges ahead.
Under the cover of night, Lin Feng donned a black stealth suit and silently approached the Wang Wei Intelligence Agency building. He avoided the main entrance, which had become a battleground for fierce exchanges between the American Side and Rinji, both sides locked in a deadly struggle for control. Instead, Lin Feng navigated a narrow alley along the side of the building. Reaching a window on the third floor, he paused to listen for any sounds inside. Confirming that no one was present, he gently pushed open the window and leaped into the room. The air was thick with a musty mix of old paper and gunpowder. Lin Feng quickly oriented himself and made his way toward the staircase leading down to the secure file room. Along his path, he carefully avoided sporadic guards, using shadows and corners to conceal his presence, moving as silently as a cat.
As he approached the third underground level, danger escalated sharply. The number of guards at the secure room entrance had noticeably increased; they appeared tense and alert, weapons at the ready. Lin Feng hid around a corner of the staircase, keenly observing every move made by the guards while silently calculating their rotation schedule. Finally, during a brief shift change when attention was still diverted from their posts, Lin Feng sprang from his hiding place like a wraith from the shadows and dashed toward the entrance.
Clutching a specially crafted short dagger in his hand, he struck with precision as he closed in on the guards, swiftly incapacitating them without making a sound. Once they were neutralized, Lin Feng hurried to stand before the heavy iron door of the secure room. Taking a deep breath, he began to work on cracking its combination lock.
This lock was an advanced model imported from Germany, featuring a complex structure with multiple internal mechanisms. However, Lin Feng had previously stumbled upon blueprints for this lock design while in Wang Wei Intelligence Agency’s file room. Drawing on his photographic memory and deep understanding of mechanics, he calmed himself and rapidly turned the dial on the lock while pressing his ear against it to listen for subtle sounds from within as he discerned whether each combination was correct.
After an intense and challenging operation filled with tension, he finally heard a soft click—the lock had been successfully opened. Pushing open the iron door revealed a stale atmosphere that rushed out to greet him. The dimly lit secure room was lined with towering filing cabinets covered in dense labels indicating various categories and dates of classified documents. Lin Feng knew exactly what he was looking for: one specific cabinet containing U.S. Aid Distribution Files for China—and time was running out.
