Lin Feng hurriedly navigated the corridors of the Kuomintang Army headquarters, clutching a crucial film reel tightly. Each step felt like walking on a razor's edge, his heart pounding violently as if it would burst from his chest. Just as he was about to leave the archive area and step into a relatively safe hallway, fate played a cruel joke on him; he unexpectedly collided with a Military Intelligence Agent.
This agent was none other than Chen Biao, who had long harbored suspicions about Lin Feng and had never liked him. Chen Biao was a burly man with fierce eyes, resembling a wolf ready to pounce. He was notorious within the American side for his ruthless nature and keen instincts. Having observed Lin Feng multiple times, he sensed something off about him, though lacking concrete evidence. Nonetheless, this suspicion coiled in his mind like a venomous snake.
At that moment, seeing Lin Feng's anxious demeanor ignited Chen Biao's doubts to their peak. He stepped forward, blocking Lin Feng's path like an immovable wall, a cold smile curling at the corners of his mouth. "Assistant Lin, in such a hurry? Where are you off to?" His words dripped with obvious provocation and testing.
Lin Feng's heart sank, but he quickly composed himself, feigning calmness. He furrowed his brow slightly, allowing a hint of impatience to show on his face as he raised his voice deliberately. "Agent Chen, what are you doing? Can't you see I have an urgent mission to attend to? If this gets delayed, can you take responsibility for it?" He attempted to intimidate Chen Biao with his urgency and authority.
However, Chen Biao was not swayed by such tactics. A glimmer of mockery flashed in his eyes as he stepped closer, their faces nearly touching. "Hmph, an urgent mission? I think you have something to hide! You're not leaving until you explain yourself." With that, he reached out to grab Lin Feng's arm, intending to search him.
Lin Feng swiftly sidestepped, skillfully evading Chen Biao's grasp. A look of determination crossed his face; he knew that if searched, the film reel would be exposed. Not only would his life be in jeopardy, but countless efforts would also go to waste. Cornered with no way out, he had no choice but to fight back.
"Chen Biao, don't push me too far!" Lin Feng glared at him, his voice low and resolute like a cornered beast letting out its final roar.
Chen Biao was enraged by Lin Feng's defiance; his face contorted with fury as he shouted, "Enough talk! Search him!" With that, he swung a fist at Lin Feng.
Realizing there was no room for negotiation left, Lin Feng knew he had to strike first. Just as Chen Biao's fist was about to connect with his face, he dropped low and lunged forward with all his strength, delivering a powerful punch directly to Chen Biao's abdomen. Caught off guard by the sudden counterattack, Chen Biao let out a grunt as he staggered back slightly.
Yet being an experienced Military Intelligence Agent, Chen Biao quickly regained his composure. After briefly being stunned, he adjusted his stance and launched a kick aimed at Lin Feng's chest. Lin Feng dodged sideways while grabbing Chen Biao's ankle with his left hand and twisting it forcefully in an attempt to trip him. However, Chen Biao used the momentum to flip in mid-air and landed firmly on his feet before unleashing a flurry of punches that whistled through the air with ferocity.
Amidst this storm of attacks, Lin Feng ducked and weaved, searching for an opportunity to counterattack. He understood that he could not match Chen Biao in brute strength; instead, he needed to rely on agility and quick reflexes to win. Suddenly spotting an opening as Chen Biao threw another punch, Lin Feng quickly crouched down and executed a sweeping kick aimed at Chen Biao’s legs. Caught off guard, Chen Biao stumbled as his legs were swept from under him, losing balance and falling backward.
