As the urban siege of the Liberation War approached its climax, the battlefield, shrouded in smoke, revealed a complex and delicate scene. This war-torn city bore the scars of conflict, with every street and alley marked by devastation. Amidst the ruins, a tense atmosphere hung heavy in the air. With the Kuomintang Army's strength waning, most had scattered like birds and beasts, either captured or fleeing in disarray. Yet a small remnant of the enemy remained holed up in their last stronghold, clinging to their defenses with stubborn resistance, attempting to fight back against the inevitable liberation of the city. Their defiance continued to fuel the flames of war, threatening the lives and safety of the citizens within.
Observing the situation with keen insight was Lin Feng, our resourceful intelligence officer, who watched anxiously from the shadows. He understood that while a direct assault could ultimately capture the stronghold, it would come at a heavy cost in terms of casualties among our soldiers and would inflict further devastation on a city already battered by war. Innocent civilians would once again suffer amidst the chaos of gunfire and explosions. Drawing on his precise understanding of enemy deployments and his accumulated intelligence on their officers' psychology, Lin Feng was struck by a bold idea: to infiltrate the enemy camp and persuade them to surrender through dialogue.

His superiors scrutinized Lin Feng's determined expression and sincerity before weighing their options carefully. Finally, they nodded in agreement.
On a gloomy morning marked by drizzling rain, Lin Feng donned civilian clothes and set out toward the enemy stronghold accompanied only by an unarmed liaison officer. They raised a flag symbolizing peace negotiations as they cautiously approached the enemy's range. Along the way, they passed crumbling walls riddled with bullet holes, and charred earth exuded a pungent odor that seemed to narrate tales of war's brutality. Initially, the enemy soldiers were on high alert; sounds of gun bolts being drawn echoed around them as dark muzzles emerged from behind sandbag barricades and windows, aiming at these unexpected visitors.
Lin Feng remained calm and called out loudly: "I come to negotiate with you! For everyone's survival, let us find a way to spare this city!" His voice cut through the tense silence and reached the ears of the enemy troops. After a long pause, a response came from within their ranks as an officer-like figure shouted for identification. Lin Feng introduced himself as an envoy representing peace and bearing solutions for resolution. Following careful communication, the gates of the enemy camp slowly opened just enough for him to enter. Adjusting his attire, Lin Feng stepped forward confidently as the heavy iron door slammed shut behind him, sealing him off from the outside world and initiating this heart-pounding journey of persuasion.
