Park Bucheng stood by the Han River, the biting wind brushing against his face. His gaze crossed the water, fixating on an unremarkable factory on the opposite bank. The fierce battle they had just endured still left his heart racing, but he knew this was only the beginning.
"Damn it, this weather," Li Zhenghao grumbled, rubbing his frozen red hands. "What’s our next move, Bucheng?"
Park Bucheng didn’t respond immediately. His mind replayed the confrontation with Kim Tae-wook. That Clone, who looked exactly like him, was frighteningly powerful. If he hadn’t detonated the explosives he had planted at the last moment, tonight’s outcome could have been drastically different.
"We need to act quickly," Park Bucheng said in a low voice. "The conspiracy of JK Group is more terrifying than we imagined. They are secretly developing a horrifying Biochemical Weapon at that Research Center."
Li Zhenghao gasped in shock. "What the hell? Have they gone insane?"
"Insane? No, they are very clear-headed," Park Bucheng sneered. "They will do anything for profit."
Just then, Park Bucheng's phone vibrated unexpectedly. He pulled it out to see an unfamiliar number.
"Hello?"
"Mr. Park Bucheng, I am Kim Ji-young from the Special Investigation Team of the Prosecutor's Office." A cold female voice came through the line. "We have some important leads regarding JK Group and would like to meet with you."
Park Bucheng frowned. "The Prosecutor's Office? Why are you contacting me?"
"Because we know about your entanglement with JK Group," Kim Ji-young replied mysteriously. "And we are aware of your actions tonight."
A jolt of surprise shot through Park Bucheng, but he maintained his composure. "Alright, where shall we meet?"
"Half an hour from now at the Old Wharf under Han River Bridge."
After hanging up, Park Bucheng quickly briefed Li Zhenghao on a few details before heading to the agreed location alone.
The Old Wharf was dilapidated and eerie. As Park Bucheng arrived, he immediately felt the wary gazes directed at him from all directions.
"Mr. Park, it's a pleasure to finally meet you," a tall woman emerged from the shadows; it was Kim Ji-young.
Park Bucheng sized up the young woman, who appeared to be in her early twenties, and was secretly astonished. This was the special investigator from the prosecutor's office? It seemed this world was more complicated than he had imagined.
"Kim Prosecutor, what brings you here?" Park Bucheng asked straightforwardly.
Kim Ji-young did not respond immediately but handed Park Bucheng a document. "This is some evidence we've recently gathered, proving that JK Group is involved in multiple serious economic crimes and illegal human experiments."
Park Bucheng quickly skimmed through the document, growing increasingly alarmed. The reach of JK Group had infiltrated every aspect of society, even extending to high-level government officials.
"What do you plan to do?" Park Bucheng looked up and asked.
A glimmer of determination flashed in Kim Ji-young's eyes. "We are preparing to launch a major operation to completely dismantle JK Group's criminal network. However..."
"But what?"
"But we need your help." Kim Ji-young locked eyes with Park Bucheng. "You have connections and resources in the underground world that we lack. Only by joining forces can we hope to succeed."
Park Bucheng fell silent for a moment before breaking into a meaningful smile. "Interesting. So, how do you plan to cooperate with me, Prosecutor?"
While the two were plotting, an urgent meeting was taking place at the top floor of JK Group's headquarters.
"Damn it! That Park Bucheng actually dared to destroy our Research Center!" Kim Jeong-hoon, the chairman of JK Group, slammed his fist on the table, seething with rage.
"The Chairman, we have activated the emergency plan," the secretary reported cautiously. "All important data has been transferred, and the losses are minimal."
Kim Jeong-hoon snorted, "What about the Clone?"
"Mr. Kim Tae-wook... he was seriously injured in the explosion and is currently receiving treatment."
"Useless!" Kim Jeong-hoon cursed. "Can't even handle a small Gang Leader; what good are you!"
At that moment, the door to the conference room was suddenly pushed open. A tall foreign woman strode in confidently.
"Sofia?" Kim Jeong-hoon said, somewhat surprised. "What brings you here?"
"I heard you were having some trouble," Sofia said with a cold smile. "As a representative of America, I believe we can offer some... assistance."
Kim Jeong-hoon's eyes lit up. "What kind of assistance?"
Sofia pulled a document from her briefcase. "This is a sample of our latest developed Biochemical Weapon. If you're willing to cooperate, we can achieve this great plan together."
Kim Jeong-hoon took the document, growing more excited as he read. He looked up, his eyes gleaming with madness. "Good! Let's do it! I want Park Bucheng to know the consequences of crossing us!"
Meanwhile, Park Bucheng was discussing action plans with Kim Ji-young.
"We need to strike multiple Gang Strongholds of JK Group simultaneously," Kim Ji-young said, pointing at the map. "But the key is to obtain evidence of their illegal research."
Park Bucheng nodded. "I'll figure that part out. However..."
Before he could finish his sentence, a wave of dizziness hit him. Park Bucheng staggered slightly, nearly losing his balance.
"Mr. Park, are you alright?" Kim Ji-young quickly supported him.
Park Bucheng shook his head, forcing himself to stand upright. "I'm fine; I might just be a bit tired lately."
But deep down, he knew this was not just ordinary fatigue. Ever since his last battle with Kim Tae-wook, he had felt a disturbance within him, as if something was continuously eroding his body.
"It seems time is running out," Park Bucheng thought. "I must resolve the situation with JK Group and uncover the truth as soon as possible."
He took a deep breath and said to Kim Ji-young, "Let's set our action for three days from now. I will mobilize all available resources to support your efforts."
Kim Ji-young nodded solemnly. "Alright, we at the prosecutor's office will do our utmost as well."
Just as they shook hands in agreement, Park Bucheng suddenly felt an intense sense of danger. He abruptly pushed Kim Ji-young away and rolled behind a nearby shipping container.
Bang! A gunshot shattered the night air.
"Sniper!" Park Bucheng shouted. "Get down!"
Kim Ji-young reacted quickly, finding cover in an instant. She drew her sidearm and cautiously scanned the surroundings.
"It seems our plans have already been discovered," Kim Ji-young gritted her teeth.
Park Bucheng did not respond. He closed his eyes, carefully sensing the atmosphere around him. Suddenly, he opened his eyes wide.
"There!"
Park Bucheng leaped forward, his figure darting through the night like a wraith. His movements were so unpredictable that the sniper couldn't lock onto him at all.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
A series of gunshots rang out, but Park Bucheng effortlessly evaded them. As he drew closer, he made one final leap and landed directly in front of the sniper.
"You are..." The sniper's eyes widened in terror.
Park Bucheng didn't give him a chance to finish. With a swift strike to the back of the sniper's neck, he knocked him unconscious.
"All done." Park Bucheng clapped his hands and turned to Kim Ji-young. "It seems that the JK Group has already caught wind of our actions. We need to speed things up."
Kim Ji-young nodded, a glint of admiration in her eyes. "Mr. Park, your skills are truly impressive. But what should we do next?"
Park Bucheng pondered for a moment before breaking into a sly smile. "Since they already know, why don't we..."
He leaned in close to Kim Ji-young and whispered a few words. Kim Ji-young was initially taken aback, but then she smiled in response.
"Great idea! Let's do it!"
As the night deepened, Park Bucheng and Kim Ji-young split up to carry out their plans. They both understood that an earth-shattering spectacle was about to unfold. And this was just the beginning...
