“Old Lu, are there no fish monsters in this water?” 0
“There aren’t any; I’ve cleared them out.” 0
“What if there are?” 0
“If there are, then we’ll kill them, or you can let them eat you. There’s a type of fish monster that swims upstream and preys on small birds and children. You could wait for them here…” 0
Before Old Lu could finish, Mo Wen began to take action. At first, it was relatively easy, but as time passed, pain started to creep into his body. The current was relentless, washing over him with mud and sand, sometimes even striking him with pebbles. Some of the sludge settled at the bottom, weighing down his legs and making it difficult for him to move. Old Lu didn’t follow him; he only brought a large bowl of meat soup whenever Mo Wen was exhausted, urging him to drink it. Old Lu’s grilling skills were poor, and his soup-making was just as bad—at least that’s what Mo Wen thought. Fortunately, every time he drank the soup, he felt invigorated and full of strength, to the point that he began to look forward to Old Lu’s soup whenever he felt fatigued. The soup would only appear when he was on the brink of exhaustion. Mo Wen had lost track of how many days he had spent in this channel. During this time, he noticed that the slope was becoming steeper; standing on it felt challenging, let alone dealing with the thick “water” rushing over him. 0

He stood up again and continued his ascent. He couldn’t remember how many times he had fallen; it seemed like Old Lu hadn’t brought him soup in a long while, and he didn’t have the energy to care about it anymore. At that moment, he felt like he wasn’t himself anymore because he was relying entirely on sheer willpower to move forward. 0

At the end of the ditch, Old Lu looked at Mo Wen, who had already passed out, with a hint of surprise. He picked up the child from the ground and left the area. 0
“Old Lu, how long did I take?” Mo Wen lay in the cauldron. 0
“Longer than Old Man expected. Just wake up and come out; it’s not over yet.” 0
“Ah… there’s more!” 0
“Yes.” 0
Mo Wen stood next to Old Lu completely naked, gazing at a row of stone spheres before him. The spheres were arranged from small to large—ten in total—with the smallest having a diameter of three feet and the largest about ten feet. 0

“The material isn’t dense enough, so they look bigger than they actually are; they’re not heavy. Let’s get started.” 0
Mo Wen jumped into the water, bracing himself for the impending nightmare as Old Lu rolled the smallest stone sphere into the water. 0
“Roll it to the end, then roll down the next one…” 0
Watching Old Lu made Mo Wen want to cry; how could he possibly do this? The shadow of his previous experience hadn’t faded yet, and this one would surely be even worse. 0

“If you want to be strong like Old Man, you have to do as he says.” 0
With Old Lu as a powerful example, Mo Wen quickly took action. Since waking up until now, he hadn’t seen anyone else besides Old Lu and didn’t know if others were also strong; all he knew was that Old Lu was formidable. 0

Mo Wen didn’t know how long it took to complete the stone-rolling task designed by Old Lu. Indeed, as Old Lu had said, he was much stronger now than before. After waking from Old Lu’s medicinal soup, Old Lu brought him to this place, saying he wanted him to see what he had conquered during this time so that he would feel proud of his achievements afterward. This was the source of the channel; the water flowed down from here, and Mo Wen had no idea how Old Lu had managed it. Looking at the surface of the water before him—calm as a mirror and vast beyond measure—was refreshing. 0

“What you see before you is just a very small river surface.” 0
“This is already quite large; why do you say it’s small?” 0

"You will understand later." With that, the old man and the young one left the place. 0
