"Mr. Jiang, I didn't expect an elder from the Hidden Sect to come and oversee things this time," Liu Chaowu said tentatively.
Jiang Chen smiled faintly, remaining silent.
Instead, Lin Yin, ever sharp, looked at Liu Chaowu and said lightly, "So what if an elder from the Hidden Sect is here? Some people shouldn’t think that just because they have the backing of an elder from the Hidden Sect, they can threaten me. An elder from the Hidden Sect is nothing to be concerned about."
"Miss Lin, you can't say that. We must not underestimate the foundation of the Hidden Sect," Liu Chaowu replied nervously.
"You arrogant girl, wait until the day after tomorrow when you meet the people from Shen Xue Men. If you dare to say such things in front of them, I’ll consider you capable," Chen Jie Li scoffed.
"Don’t take the Divine Realm as if it’s a true god. To my master, experts from the Divine Realm are like ants; my master could easily crush them. President Chen, your sworn brother Wu Shiding has only just entered the Divine Realm. If you rely on him for support, you might end up harming him," Lin Yin said with a smile.
Chen Jie Li glanced at Jiang Chen and saw him as a mere bystander, indifferent to everything around him as he sipped tea while watching the sunset over Yan Gui Lake.
"Hmph, two young fools who only enjoy verbal sparring. The Martial Arts Divine Realm is something you cannot even touch; you have no idea what it means to be an expert in the Martial Arts Divine Realm," Chen Jie Li said coldly.
Transcendence and the Divine Realm may differ by just one level, but they are worlds apart. The Divine Realm is a realm he must look up to; it was ridiculous for a young person like Lin Yin to speak so arrogantly, disregarding even the Divine Realm.
"Ha ha," Lin Yin merely responded with a cold laugh.
As for Jiang Chen, he paid no attention to such trivial matters. At that moment, the sun dipped below the horizon, and night fell as neon lights began to glow.
"Ran'er, let’s go. When your Uncle Wu arrives, let him back you up," Chen Jie Li stood up and pulled his grandson to leave.
However, Chen Ran continued to gaze at Lin Yin. Having been defeated by her, he found himself increasingly enamored with her.
"Let’s go. When your Uncle Wu arrives, we’ll have him propose to her. By then, she’ll have no choice but to agree," Chen Jie Li said loudly on purpose for Lin Yin to hear.
Lin Yin merely smiled dismissively and paid no mind. Her marriage was something only her master could decide; it all depended on whether the people from the Hidden Sect could persuade her master.
After a while, each table was served some local delicacies from Dao City along with a pot of wine. Jiang Chen began exchanging cups with Liu Chaowu. Lin Yin usually didn’t drink alcohol, but seeing her master enjoy it as if it were Jade Nectar made her pick up a cup as well. However, after just one sip, she grimaced and started coughing.
"Master, I don’t understand why you all enjoy drinking so much; this wine tastes terrible! The Double Skin Milk is much better," Lin Yin quickly picked up a bowl of Double Skin Milk and started eating.
"Miss Lin, when you grow up and experience more things, you'll understand the taste of this wine," Liu Chaowu said with a smile.
"Really?" Lin Yin asked suspiciously as she looked at Jiang Chen.
"Yes," Jiang Chen nodded. "But I still prefer you being carefree like this."
"Master, where am I being carefree?" Lin Yin pouted and replied helplessly.
"Haha, let’s eat! In life, we must not neglect good food and wine," Jiang Chen laughed. On the long path of cultivation, one must find some joy; although after reaching Foundation Establishment one could essentially stop eating grains altogether, there was no need to suppress one's appetite—one should still enjoy food and drink when it was time.
