Seeing the confident demeanor of the mother and daughter, Chen Ran felt a flicker of doubt. He had initially harbored some apprehension towards Jiang Chen, after all, the impression Jiang Chen left last night was one of depth and mystery. If Jiang Chen truly was just a nobody, then what was there to fear?
Suddenly, a sense of joy welled up in Chen Ran's heart. He glanced at Jiang Chen from a distance and saw that he still wore the same calm expression as last night, exuding an air of indifference, as if he were an otherworldly sage.
"Are you really telling the truth? That kid has no background whatsoever?" Chen Ran asked again for confirmation.
"Why would I lie to you? Do you want to confront him?" Chu Mei replied.
"Alright, let's confront him," Chen Ran said. If it turned out that Jiang Chen was indeed a nobody without parents or connections, then Chen Ran would not hold back. The reason Lin Yin looked down on him was solely because she was preoccupied with her master. Once he exposed her master's hypocritical facade, he could seize the opportunity to win her over.
Chen Ran viewed Jiang Chen as a smooth-talking fraud who had deceived not only Lin Yin but also Liu Chaowu. If he could unveil Jiang Chen's true nature, Lin Yin would surely see him in a new light. This thought filled Chen Ran with a surge of confidence; he felt like a champion of justice, ready to rescue the girl he adored.
From afar, Lin Yin spotted Chen Ran approaching with Wang Duoduo and felt puzzled. "Master, that girl's boyfriend isn't Chen Ran, is he?" Lin Yin asked.
"If it's not him, then who else could it be?" Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
"Well, this is interesting," Lin Yin chuckled helplessly.
Chen Ran rushed over enthusiastically and stood before Lin Yin, casting a disdainful glance at Jiang Chen. "Miss Lin, I've uncovered a secret: your master might be a fraud. I'm here to expose him right now."
"Uh, my master is a fraud? Since when did I know that?" Lin Yin was both shocked and amused.
"This guy may act all high and mighty, but he's just a nobody without any connections. I have proof! This lady here is the neighbor of his godmother. Her family is very ordinary; if he had any background, would he even acknowledge such a godmother?" Chen Ran exclaimed excitedly while looking at Jiang Chen with a smug smile.
"I'll ask you this: do you know them?" Chen Ran pointed at Chu Mei and Wang Duoduo and questioned Jiang Chen.
"I do," Jiang Chen replied with a smile; it felt like a farce.
"Your godmother's family used to be neighbors with them, right? You have no background whatsoever! Do you admit it?" Chen Ran pressed on aggressively, exhilarated by the prospect of exposing Jiang Chen's secrets.
"I admit it," Jiang Chen said calmly.
Seeing that Jiang Chen had confessed, Chen Ran was overjoyed and looked at Lin Yin with excitement. "Miss Lin, and President Liu, you can see for yourselves that this kid is nothing special; you've been deceived by his sweet talk."
Lin Yin and Liu Chaowu exchanged glances, bewildered by what they were hearing from Chen Ran.
"Hey, are you an idiot? When did my master ever claim to have any background? A person like my master doesn’t need any connections! What are you so happy about?" Lin Yin scoffed at him with an incredulous look.
Chen Ran's smile instantly froze on his face, leaving him feeling both awkward and incredulous. This situation was not what he had anticipated; after revealing Jiang Chen's true nature, why were Lin Yin and Liu Chaowu not grateful at all? Instead, they looked amused.
