The gunshot echoed in the basement. Makiko clutched her shoulder and fell, blood seeping through her fingers. At the end of the corridor, Watanabe approached slowly, holding a handgun. 0

"I knew I would find you here," he said with a cold smile. "This is the most important experimental area; you were bound to come." 0

"You knew our identities all along?" I asked, trying to buy time for Zhou Jing to assess Makiko's injury. 0

"Of course," he replied. "I recognized you the moment I saw you at the airport. Professor Yamamoto wanted to see just how many secrets you could uncover." 0

His gaze swept over the chambers filled with liquid. "It seems you've learned too much already." 0

At that moment, I noticed Zhou Jing quietly reaching for the control panel by the wall. Watanabe was more alert than I was and immediately aimed his gun at her. "Don't move!" 0

It was too late. Zhou Jing suddenly laughed. "Did you think you were the only one making plans?" 0

Before his words could settle, the entire basement plunged into darkness. It was Makiko! She had already prepared to cut the power. 0

In the darkness, gunfire erupted. I grabbed Zhou Jing and rolled to take cover behind a row of chambers. The sound of shattering glass filled the air as a pale blue liquid spilled everywhere. 0

"You can't escape!" Watanabe roared in the dark. "The entire research facility is ours!" 0

Suddenly, a glass dome from one of the chambers shattered, and an experimental subject tumbled out. In the dim red light of the emergency lamps, I saw it was a boy around ten years old, his body riddled with tubes. 0

What shocked us even more was that he was still alive! The boy weakly opened his eyes, glanced at us, and then raised his hand toward Watanabe. 0

"No!" Watanabe screamed in terror. 0

I couldn't see what happened next; I only felt an unusual force flowing through the air. Watanabe seemed to be struck by something and flew back, crashing heavily against the wall. 0

"Quick!" Makiko struggled to stand up. "The total lunar eclipse is coming soon; they will activate their emergency plan!" 0

"We can't save those children," she said with difficulty. "The most important thing now is to stop the lunar eclipse plan. If they succeed, more children will suffer!" 0

Zhou Jing suddenly pointed at the liquid on the ground. "Look!" 0

I wasn't sure if it was just my imagination, but the liquid flowing from the chamber emitted a faint glow in the darkness and seemed to be moving toward a certain direction, as if something was calling it. 0

"It's the control room!" Makiko exclaimed. "They must have activated the blood collection system." 0

The sound of synchronized footsteps echoed from afar; it seemed our pursuers had arrived. We had to leave this terrifying laboratory, but the boy who had been awakened stood frozen in place, his vacant gaze sending chills down my spine. 0

"I'm sorry," Zhou Jing said to him. "We will come back for you." 0

The boy remained unresponsive, mechanically turning his head to watch the flowing liquid. Suddenly, he opened his mouth and uttered a hoarse phrase in Japanese. 0

"What did he say?" I asked Makiko. 0

"He said," Makiko's voice trembled, "the moon is coming." 0

Before she could finish, a loud bang echoed from the end of the corridor. The shockwave from the explosion knocked us to the ground, and through the smoke, a familiar figure emerged. 0

"Welcome to hell," Yamada Hiro strolled forward, playing with a bronze mask in his hands. "You are the first to witness the miracle." 0
