In the underground laboratory of the Geological Research Institute at the University of Tokyo, Honda Miho was analyzing a rock sample from Antarctica. This rock had been urgently airlifted from a research station and exhibited an unusual metallic sheen. 0

It was incredible. She stared through the microscope, watching as the molecular structure of the rock continuously changed, almost as if it were alive. Not just like it; through my special vision, I could see that it truly was alive. Look at how those molecules are arranged. 0

As we spoke, intricate patterns began to emerge on the surface of the rock, forming a miniature Taiji diagram. Even more bizarrely, this pattern seemed to be spinning incessantly. 0

“How is the formation of the expedition team coming along?” Zhou Jing asked. 0

“It’s a bit troublesome,” Jiang Zhendong replied. “That area has now been designated a no-go zone, and even research personnel have been asked to evacuate. However…” He pulled out a document. “I contacted an old friend, Professor Stevenson. He is an advisor at the International Polar Research Center and is very familiar with that area. Moreover…” 0

“Moreover what?” 0

“He mentioned that he participated in a secret expedition there years ago.” 0

This news left everyone stunned. Stevenson—this name was familiar to us all. He was a world-renowned polar archaeologist who had made significant discoveries in Antarctica multiple times. We never expected him to be connected to this mystery. 0

“He agreed to meet with us,” Jiang Zhendong said, “just tomorrow.” 0

The next day, we met Professor Stevenson at a private villa on the outskirts of Tokyo. He looked much older than in his photographs, but his eyes were still bright and alert. 0

“I know what you’re going to ask,” he said straightforwardly. “About what happened back then, right?” 0

“Can you tell us what transpired?” 0

The old professor fell silent for a moment before retrieving a notebook from the safe in his study. “This is my expedition journal. For years, I have been studying the significance of that discovery.” 0

I took the notebook and found not only written records but also numerous photographs and hand-drawn diagrams inside. The most striking was a cross-section drawing of an underground structure, meticulously detailing each layer's composition. 0

“This complex,” Stevenson pointed at the blueprint, “was not constructed; it grew.” 0

“You mean…” 0

“The building materials can self-replicate and self-repair. Moreover, they can change form as needed.” He paused for emphasis. “Just like living cells.” 0

Suddenly, I noticed a strange device drawn in one corner of the blueprint. It resembled some sort of control panel, designed in an odd manner—no buttons, no switches—only a circular indentation. 0

“The bronze masks,” Stevenson said. “That’s the key to activating the device.” 0

“You mean those masks we found in Changling Village…” 0

“Are replicas. The real ones are still in Antarctica, sealed away in the deepest chamber.” 0
