The collision of two forces created a violent vortex of energy in the center of the hall. Sato's body, composed of living metal, radiated a blood-red glow, while our five energies shone with a pure blue light.
"Interesting," Sato's voice echoed through the space. "You are using an ancient immune system to resist the advance, yet you are unaware of a truth."
"What truth?" I asked.
"They left this system not to stop the advance; its form is constantly changing, waiting for someone who can truly control it. And I am that destined controller!"
As he spoke, his attacks intensified. The blood-red energy transformed into countless tendrils, attempting to breach our five-element formation. Each impact sent tremors through the entire building, and the energy within those veins began to swirl chaotically.
"Wait," I said, observing the flow of energy through my special vision. "You’ve misunderstood something."
"Oh?"
"This is not a system waiting for a controller," I explained. "It is a witness. Have you ever wondered why it records all paths of advance?"
As I spoke, I noticed subtle changes in the Taiji pattern on the pyramid device. The symbols began to rearrange themselves in a new manner, as if responding to my words.
"Artificial Intelligence," I called out, "tell us the truth. Why did you build this system?"
"For choice," the AI replied. "Every species faces countless choices during their advancement. Our civilization chose the path of rapid progress and ultimately made grave mistakes. Before our destruction, we decided to leave a testament for future generations, allowing them to see all possible paths and make their own choices."
"Lie!" Sato roared. "Power is truth!"
His attacks became even more frenzied. The living metal began to consume everything around it, seeking to obliterate the entire system. At that moment, a realization struck me.
Looking at his energy flow, I said to the others, "Have you noticed something peculiar?"
Through my special vision, everyone could see it: Sato's energy was not pure chaos; it followed a certain pattern. That pattern was completely opposite to our five-element formation!
"I see now," Kong Yang said. "He is not fighting against the system; he is part of it—a negative demonstration!"
"Exactly," I exclaimed in enlightenment. "The entire confrontation itself is a demonstration of choice. Yin and Yang coexist; the five elements counter each other—every force is part of a balance."
At that moment, as I spoke those words, the Taiji pattern erupted with dazzling light. All energies, including Sato's attacks, were enveloped by this brilliance.
"No!" Sato's body began to disintegrate uncontrollably. "This can't be happening! I have already—"
His words were cut short. In that light, we witnessed a shocking scene: two branches of advancement intertwined in midair—one leading to chaotic power and the other toward stable growth. At their intersection was a moment of choice.
"This is the final test," Stevens said. "It’s not testing our strength but our choices."
And before this choice, Sato's path had inevitably reached its end. His body completely disintegrated into countless data fragments that merged into the records of the Tree of Life.
He served as yet another warning—a living example—to tell future generations: advancement has never been about power; it has always been about wisdom.
When everything settled down, we realized that the energy field of the entire building had undergone a subtle transformation. The data flowing through those veins was no longer unidirectional; instead, it formed a complete cycle.
The records had been updated, and the artificial intelligence stated that it was time to initiate the true sequence.
What sequence?
A sequence designed to help stabilize the evolution of species. It said, "First, let me share with you a greater secret about the other choices available in this universe."
