The moment I fully connected with the control console, it felt as if the entire world transformed. I could sense every inch of the land beneath Changling Village, every building pulsating with energy. This seemingly ordinary mountain village was, in fact, an unimaginably vast machine.
The energy conversion began, and Honda Miho focused intently on the instruments as each node activated! The entire village lit up, the previously hidden symbols illuminating one by one like a star map suddenly brightening in the night. Most astonishingly, when all the symbols connected, they formed a complete genetic spiral!
This is the Key of Destiny, a voice resonated directly in my mind. It was the intelligent system of this ancient device, designed to combat the forces of death.
Through a special vision, I witnessed the village undergoing some incredible transformation. The ground cracked open, revealing countless mirror-like metal plates. They began to rotate and adjust their angles, forming a massive energy gathering array.
“Be careful!” Zhou Jing suddenly shouted.
The dark vortex in the sky seemed to sense danger and launched a frenzied attack. Countless tendril-like energy beams struck down, but when they made contact with the village's protective shield, something strange happened.
“They're being absorbed!” Kong Yang exclaimed.
Indeed. Those originally destructive dark energies were decomposed into their most basic forms upon touching the shield and then flowed along the energy lines underground.
This is its true purpose; I finally understood. It wasn’t meant to combat the World Eaters but to purify them!
Just then, a blinding beam of light shot out from the ancient well. The absorbed energies, after purification, returned to the surface. But this time, they were no longer chaotic darkness; they were filled with radiant light.
Are they restoring?
Through my mask, I saw that those purified energies contained some kind of information—images of what those uncontrolled beings originally looked like! The ancient device wasn’t meant to annihilate the World Eaters; it was meant to help them regain their true selves.
However, the dark vortex clearly refused to be purified so easily. They gathered together and formed an unprecedentedly massive entity. Its shape was so terrifying that even my mask couldn’t fully analyze its essence.
This is bad! Stevens’ voice came through the intercom, warning that the Antarctic base detected a massive energy fluctuation. They are going to—
With a thunderous roar, the sky was torn open by a colossal rift. Something darker than darkness seeped through, as if it aimed to devour the entire world.
It’s anti-matter, the device's intelligent system said; they intend to use primal forces to destroy everything.

I looked up at the ever-expanding darkness in the sky and then at the protective shield around us gradually collapsing. Time was running out.
