"Ahem, Brother Shiding, I have a personal matter I would like to ask for your help with," Chen Jie Li said hastily.
"Brother Jie Li, we are brothers. Whatever you need help with, I will do my utmost," Wu Shiding replied with a smile.
"It's like this: my grandson Chen Ran wants to pursue a girl. However, she comes from a prestigious family and possesses considerable strength, not to mention her rather difficult temperament. So I thought it best if you could intervene on his behalf; your influence is certainly much greater than mine," Chen Jie Li said somewhat awkwardly. Asking Wu Shiding to help his grandson pursue a girl felt rather embarrassing.
"That's a small matter. Chen Ran is like my nephew; of course, I will support him. So tell me, which girl has caught his eye?" Wu Shiding said with a grin.
"Thank you, Uncle Wu! The girl I like is Lin Yin from the orphanage in Nangang City; she’s right here," Chen Ran exclaimed excitedly, calling out "Uncle Wu" loudly as if to ensure everyone knew he had an elder from the Hidden Sect backing him.
"You mean the girl is her?" Wu Shiding asked in slight astonishment before breaking into a smile. It seemed that wherever one went, unique girls were always like shining pearls—radiant and sought after by many.
"Uncle Wu, that's Lin Yin," Chen Ran confirmed while secretly observing Mu Deng's expression. Mu Deng merely smiled and seemed unconcerned; however, Chen Ran still regarded him as his primary rival.
"This girl seems quite impressive. Come on, let’s go take a look," Wu Shiding said with a smile.
A group of them approached Jiang Chen but paid him no mind; all eyes were on Lin Yin.
"This is Elder Wu from Shen Xue Men; shouldn't you both hurry and pay your respects?" Chen Jie Li said sternly when he saw Jiang Chen and Lin Yin behaving so casually without any sign of reverence.
"You want my master to bow to him? Ha! He’s not worthy," Lin Yin replied coolly.
"How dare you! It's one thing to show disrespect in front of me, but to be so rude before Elder Wu?" Chen Jie Li was furious, his face turning red with anger. This Lin Yin was simply impossible—unmoved by threats or authority.
Wu Shiding had initially been amiable but grew slightly displeased upon witnessing Lin Yin's attitude. An elder from the Hidden Sect was akin to a godly figure in the mundane world; even the richest in Hua Xia would treat him with respect. Yet here was Lin Yin—a mere girl—speaking so boldly as if he were nothing. It was only natural for Wu Shiding to feel some irritation.
"Young lady, who is your master?" Wu Shiding asked curiously. He assumed that Lin Yin's audacity stemmed from having strong backing behind her.
