It was summer vacation, and Liu Bin's girlfriend was not by his side; they could only keep in touch through frequent phone calls. One day, Liu Bin and his girlfriend talked for a full hour, exchanging sweet nothings before finally hanging up.
Just as he set down the phone, it rang again.
"Hello..." he picked up the receiver once more.
"Senior Brother..." Only one person would call him that: "You can come back now!"
"Uh, Yuan Jie," Liu Bin recalled what his mother had conveyed and asked, "Are you looking for me?"
"Can you come keep me company?" Yuan Jie said. "There's no one at home, and I'm scared..."
Yuan Jie explained that her parents had been traveling abroad for a week, leaving her to look after the house. Last night, there was a power outage on her street, and she had spent the entire night hiding under her blanket in fear. She worried that if the power went out again tonight, she would be terrified.
Her voice trembled slightly, and Liu Bin felt a pang of sympathy. He agreed to go keep her company. After hanging up, he rushed back to his room to change into a pair of shorts, quickly informed his mother that he was going out, grabbed an umbrella by the door, slipped on some sandals, and hurried out, leaving his mother confused.
He walked briskly through several blocks as heavy rain poured down. When he arrived at Yuan Jie's apartment building, she was already waiting for him at the entrance. She wore a sleeveless top and a nylon mini skirt, her hair tied up in two loose ponytails. No matter the occasion, she always dressed herself up adorably.
Hand in hand, they crossed the lobby where an elderly security guard watched them curiously. Yuan Jie shyly pressed the elevator button; the doors opened immediately. They stepped inside and closed the door behind them as the elevator ascended.
Yuan Jie brushed aside Liu Bin's hair that had stuck to his forehead from the rain. He wrapped his arms around her, feeling her warmth as she leaned against his chest.
The elevator stopped on the ninth floor. Although Liu Bin lived nearby, he had never been to Yuan Jie's home before. Stepping out of the elevator, Yuan Jie opened the door directly across from them and led him inside. Her home was simple and tidy, with bright windows that gave a warm impression.
"Alright," Liu Bin said with a mischievous expression, "how do you want me to keep you company now?"
Yuan Jie playfully pinched his leg and replied, "Stop being silly; just sit still."
Liu Bin settled into a rattan chair while Yuan Jie opened the fridge and brought out two cups of sour plum juice, placing them on the glass coffee table. The ceiling fan in the living room turned slowly, creating a relaxed atmosphere in her home. Liu Bin leaned back comfortably in his chair as Yuan Jie sat beside him, raising her cup to take a sip before nudging him with her elbow to encourage him to drink as well.
"My mom says I shouldn't drink anything given by girls," Liu Bin said.
"Fine then," Yuan Jie picked up the other cup. "Let you die of thirst."
With that, she took a big gulp. Seeing that she had finished both cups, Liu Bin quickly snatched away the one meant for him; it only had half left anyway. He frowned at Yuan Jie while she playfully swirled her cup around with ice water in it. She pretended to spit it back into her cup just to tease him, but he quickly stopped her. Thinking he was scared of her antics made her smile with delight.
Liu Bin moved the cup away and tilted his head toward her mouth, pointing at it. Yuan Jie blushed deeply; he wanted to drink from her lips! Unable to resist this cheeky first love of hers, she pouted her lips and kissed him gently, transferring the sour plum juice into his mouth slowly. The moment was filled with charm; even Yuan Jie felt herself getting dizzy from it all. Eventually, when there was no juice left, she even playfully extended her tongue towards Liu Bin’s mouth to let him suck on it. They lost themselves in each other’s sweetness and shared an incredibly tender moment together.
