Mo Wen and Old Lu were currently on the Cangyun Continent, where they found themselves in a perilous forest. Not far from them flowed the Yan Luo River, which was said to originate from Yun Cang Mountain. Beyond Yun Cang Mountain lay the vast Desert Gobi, stretching all the way to the edge of the continent. This forest was known as Cloud Mist Forest, a sprawling area with few capable of venturing deep into its heart. 0

The human world was largely dominated by Sects, families, and Empires. The Cangyun Continent was ruled by numerous Empires, numbering in the hundreds if not thousands. The relationships among these Empires, as well as between Empires and Sects, were intricate; some were mutually dependent while others were locked in deadly rivalry. Old Lu did not elaborate on the dynamics between these Empires or their ties to the Sects, merely stating that one would come to understand it all in due time. 0

Cloud Mist Forest was located in the northwest corner of the continent, bordered by three nations that often dispatched specialized teams to gather resources from its depths. However, their incursions were limited to shallow areas; Mo Wen and Old Lu were situated near the core of the forest, a place inaccessible to those gathering teams. Because of this, Mo Wen had not encountered another living soul aside from Old Lu. Deeper within lay the forest's true heart, inhabited by formidable Demon Beasts and unknown Chimera creatures. The core area was shrouded in perpetual mist, a place even Old Lu hesitated to enter. He claimed there was nothing of interest to him there; if something useful appeared, he would brave any danger to seek it out. For now, he felt comfortable traversing this perilous land with ease. Mo Wen harbored doubts about Old Lu's words but had no way to verify them without risking a reprimand. 0

As for the Yan Luo River, despite cutting through the entire forest, no martial artist dared to follow it into Cloud Mist Forest. In this world, water bodies signified richer resources but also exponentially greater dangers. On land, threats came from above and all around; in water, many dangers lurked beneath one's feet. While one could often evade danger on land, escape in water was far less likely. The Yan Luo River was rife with terrifying legends; it was said that large-scale battles on its surface would summon dreadful occurrences. Thus, it became a natural barrier between many Empires along its banks. Though they coveted each other's territories and resources, they refrained from crossing the river to engage in battle. This stalemate led them to abandon thoughts of conquest and instead focus on trade. 0

With humanity's continuous development, settlements began to spring up along the banks of Yan Luo River. Observations revealed that every year during a certain period, the Chimera within the river would vanish, marking an opportune time for crossing and conducting trade. 0

"Young man," Old Lu said, "do you understand what I've explained?" 0

"Mostly," Mo Wen replied. 0

"Good enough," Old Lu responded. "The specifics you must explore yourself; if I laid everything out for you, your future explorations would lose their meaning. That will be all for today; I will tell you more about Chimera another time." With that, Old Lu turned and returned to his small wooden cabin. 0
