Mo Wen and Old Lu were currently in the Cangyun Continent, specifically in a perilous area of the Cloud Mist Forest. Not far from them flowed the Yan Luo River, which was said to originate from Yun Cang Mountain. Beyond Yun Cang Mountain lay the vast Desert Gobi, stretching all the way to the edge of the continent. The Cloud Mist Forest was extensive, and few had the strength to venture deep into its depths. The human world was primarily controlled by sects, families, and empires; Cangyun Continent itself was dominated by numerous empires, numbering in the hundreds if not thousands. The relationships among these sects, families, and empires were intricate—some were mutually dependent while others were locked in deadly conflict. Old Lu did not elaborate on the relationships between the empires or between empires and sects, stating that one would naturally come to understand them after venturing out. 0

The Cloud Mist Forest was located in the northwest corner of the continent, bordered by three nations. This forest had become a resource gathering site for these nations, which often assembled specialized teams to collect resources within it. However, their incursions were quite shallow. Mo Wen and Old Lu found themselves near the core area of the forest, where the resource-gathering teams from the three nations could not reach. Because of this, Mo Wen had not seen another living person besides Old Lu since they arrived. Deeper within lay the forest's core area, inhabited by powerful Demon Beasts and unknown Chimera creatures. This central region was perpetually shrouded in mist; even Old Lu was reluctant to enter, claiming there was nothing of interest to him there. If something useful appeared, he would brave any danger to seek it out. For him, this area was merely a perilous place he could navigate with ease. Mo Wen harbored doubts about Old Lu's words but felt unable to voice his suspicions without facing consequences. 0

As for the Yan Luo River, although it cut through the entire forest, no martial artist dared to enter Cloud Mist Forest by following its course. In this world, water bodies signified richer resources but also exponentially greater dangers. On land, threats came from above and all around; in water, many dangers lurked beneath one's feet. While one could often evade or escape dangers on land, opportunities for escape were significantly limited in water. The Yan Luo River was rife with terrifying legends; it was said that large-scale battles on its surface would summon horrific events. Thus, it became a natural barrier for many empires along its banks. Although they coveted each other's territories and resources, they dared not cross the river to engage in battle. Under such circumstances, all parties abandoned thoughts of conquest and turned instead to trade and mutual exchange. 0

As humanity continued to develop, some towns sprang up along the banks of Yan Luo River. Observations revealed that during certain times of the year, Chimera would mysteriously vanish from the river, marking an opportune moment for trade across its waters. 0

"Kid," Old Lu said, "do you understand what I've told you?" 0

"Generally," Mo Wen replied. 0

"Good enough," Old Lu responded. "The specifics you must explore for yourself; if I explained everything clearly now, your future explorations would lose their meaning. That's all for today; we'll talk about Chimera another time." With that, Old Lu returned to his small wooden cabin. 0
