Mo Wen sat on a tree stump, flipping through a pile of books about Non-Grade Chimeras. His primary concern was figuring out what level of Chimera he could handle. The Chimeras detailed in the Chimera Compendium were beyond his current capabilities; if he encountered one, his only option would be to flee. He thought to himself that surely he could deal with the Non-Grade Chimeras without issue. Thus, he decided to start by learning more about these lower-tier Chimeras and their weaknesses, so that when he faced them, he could resolve the battles quickly. However, as he continued to read, his initial confidence began to wane, and he grew increasingly frustrated. He realized that according to the descriptions in the books, many Non-Grade Chimeras would still pose a significant challenge for him. A large portion of them would require him to take a detour, which was disheartening and made him understand why Old Lu often said he was still weak. It seemed that only after he broke through to the Warrior Stage would things become easier for him. The difference between a Transcendent Stage Practitioner and a Warrior Stage fighter was substantial; a Warrior could be understood as someone who cultivates martial skills, while a Cultivator practiced the path of cultivation. Warriors relied on physical coordination and inner strength for combat, whereas Cultivators could utilize Law in battle. Although Transcendent Stage Cultivators couldn't yet project the Law of Power outward, the enhancement it provided to their own abilities was not to be underestimated, as personal defense was also a part of combat strength.
Mo Wen yearned to be able to slice through Chimeras with a single strike like Old Lu described. It wasn't that he had any deep-seated hatred for Chimeras; rather, it was because the materials derived from them were highly sought after and valuable. If he could collect more of these materials, he could use them himself or sell them for things he needed in the future. However, he found that the Chimeras he could fight were only briefly mentioned in the records of Non-Grade Chimeras because they held little utility for humans. The methods to deal with them were relatively straightforward—simply overpowering them physically, as these Chimeras mostly had physical forms. As for something like the Red Tree Chimera, with his current strength, he would still have to avoid it. He might only be able to contend with such a Chimera after reaching the Transcendent Stage; to kill something like the Red Tree in battle, he would need to attain an even higher Realm.
"Does that mean those with low strength can only wait for death or run when they encounter a Chimera?" Mo Wen questioned in confusion. If what Old Lu said was true, then Warriors and low-level Transcendent Stage Practitioners facing Chimeras would simply be waiting for their demise.
"Not at all; allow Old Man to explain further..." Old Lu began another round of storytelling.
Warriors do not possess the ability to utilize Law and can only launch physical attacks against Chimeras. While this can weaken them to some extent, Chimeras do not just stand there waiting to be attacked; they retaliate with lethal Divine Soul Attacks and Bloodline Attacks. Even Transcendent Stage Cultivators, despite having a certain depth of understanding and application of Law, cannot project it outward effectively enough to cause harm; they can only use Law defensively.
Although Chimeras are strange and powerful, humans are not simply resigned to their fate. Over the long years of competing for survival against Chimeras, people gradually discovered methods that allowed lower-tier Warriors to confront them effectively—namely through the use of talismans. Talismans can imbue Law of Power or draw upon it through their effects. They are commonly used among Low-Level Practitioners and serve to enhance attacks while restraining Chimeras effectively.
