"Is that so? Then you and Mr. Jiang should build a good relationship. In the future, your Wang family will have limitless prospects, and you should help me out a bit more," manager Qian said with a smile.
"Not at all, manager Qian, you're being too polite," Chu Mei replied awkwardly. She wasn't foolish; she realized that manager Qian was suddenly treating her with respect because of her connection to Jiang Chen.
Although Chu Mei found it strange, she refrained from asking further. Putting on an air of familiarity with Jiang Chen, she exchanged a few pleasantries before the Qian couple left.
Chu Mei and her daughter Wang Duoduo exchanged bewildered glances, both looking completely confused. It was precisely because they thought they understood Jiang Chen that they felt even more perplexed.
"Mom, what on earth is going on? Isn't Jiang Chen just an ordinary person? Does he have some other identity?" Wang Duoduo pondered for a moment before speaking.
"Perhaps he does have another identity," Chu Mei replied uncertainly.
"Yes, maybe he has some background we don't know about. We didn't clarify Aunt Zhou's situation regarding him. Otherwise, how could he be worthy of knowing Miss Lin or riding in a Rolls-Royce?" Wang Duoduo said coldly.
The mother and daughter were unwilling to believe that Jiang Chen had any real abilities. Even as they overheard discussions around them:
"Do you think that Mr. Jiang has some sort of background? He's so impressive; President Chen almost lost his life earlier."
"Keep your voice down; we can't just talk about this openly. Didn't you see how respectful the elders from the Hidden Sect were towards Mr. Jiang?"
"We mustn't spread word about tonight's events; otherwise, it could end badly."
Hearing these conversations only deepened the confusion in Chu Mei and Wang Duoduo's hearts. They tried to stop someone to ask questions, but no one was willing to say much and hurriedly left.
In the cold night, the two felt disoriented and ultimately left empty-handed. Wang Duoduo waited for Chen Ran but ended up leaving in disappointment.
"I'll call Jiang Chen tomorrow and invite him over for a visit. If there's anything I want to know, I can just ask him directly," Chu Mei said.
Meanwhile, in a presidential suite of a five-star hotel in Dao City, Jiang Chen and Lin Yin returned and continued their meditation practice together.
The next morning, Lin Yin was once again asleep on the carpet. Jiang Chen felt helpless; despite using the same Meditation Technique, Lin Yin had tried twice without entering the right state, while Ye Ming could instantly achieve it. The two disciples had completely opposite mindsets, each with their own advantages and disadvantages.
"Uh, Master, I—I don’t know what happened last night; I fell asleep again," Lin Yin said sheepishly while scratching her head.
"No need to explain; it’s indeed challenging for you to calm down and meditate like this. However, we still need to continue with the meditation," Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
Suddenly, a ringtone interrupted them. Jiang Chen took out his phone and saw that it was a call from a Dao City number. After answering, he realized it was Chu Mei calling.
"Jiang Chen, come over to my house for lunch today; don’t refuse," Chu Mei said cheerfully.
"No need, I've already bought the plane ticket and I'm leaving Dao City shortly," Jiang Chen declined.
Chu Mei wanted to say something more, but Jiang Chen interrupted her and hung up the phone, feeling too lazy to engage in further chatter with Aunt Chu. As for whether Aunt Chu would be upset, Jiang Chen couldn't care less.
On the other end of the line, Chu Mei nearly threw her phone in frustration when she heard the busy signal.
"Mom, what's wrong? Is Jiang Chen not coming?" Wang Duoduo quickly asked.
"He's not coming. That kid has no manners at all. I need to call his godmother and let her know so she can teach him a lesson. He's really out of line," Chu Mei said angrily as she dialed Zhou Rongli's number.
