"Director Jiang, may I ask how to address this gentleman?" Zhang Li said politely. His keen eye noticed the respect Jiang Luyi showed towards the young man.
"Director Zhang, let me introduce you. This is Mr. Jiang, the investor of this film. He prefers to keep a low profile and doesn't want to be in the spotlight, so please don't mention it outside," Jiang Luyi smiled.
"Hello, Mr. Jiang," Director Zhang quickly extended his hand, showing deep respect for Jiang Chen. According to Jiang Luyi, Mr. Jiang had invested a staggering 10 billion Huaxia Coins at the outset, an unprecedented investment in film history that would surely make headlines worldwide.
Having such a passionate financier willing to invest without reservation left Zhang Li both shocked and moved.
"If only there were more wealthy individuals like Mr. Jiang who love cinema in Huaxia, the film industry would flourish," Director Zhang thought to himself.
"Hello, Director Zhang. I've heard much about you. I appreciate your help with this film," Jiang Chen said with a slight smile as he shook hands with Director Zhang.
"I will spare no effort and will not let Mr. Jiang down. However, there is one concern: this investment is so massive that the box office may not cover the costs. Perhaps we could split the movie into several parts to minimize your losses, as our highest box office earnings are only several billion, and Hua Xia Film generally doesn't earn much abroad due to weak cultural exports," Director Zhang said sincerely. Despite his excitement over the 10 billion investment, he felt a sense of trepidation.
"I'm not investing in this film to make money," Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
Jiang Chen knew well that even producing a blockbuster wouldn't require more than 5 billion, let alone 10 billion. He intended to invest hundreds of billions and wanted everyone to watch this film in theaters—free of charge.
Of course, there was no need to share this with Director Zhang just yet; they should focus on making the film first.
"Not for profit?" Director Zhang was astonished. "Is it possible that Mr. Jiang is doing this out of love for cinema?"
"Director Zhang, don't ask too many questions; just focus on making a great film. Once it's ready, show it to Mr. Jiang first. If he approves, it can be released; if not, you can continue filming," Jiang Luyi quickly interjected. "Of course, money is not an issue."
"Uh, okay, understood! By the way, Mr. Jiang, for casting this film, I plan to use big names to attract a larger audience; however, acting skills are key—I won't compromise on quality," Director Zhang stated.
"It doesn't matter whether they are big names or newcomers; what matters is how well they fit their roles and the film itself. You handle the casting as you see fit; you're the director and have a better eye than I do. However, I already have someone in mind for the female lead," Jiang Chen said.
"May I ask who you have in mind for the female lead?" Director Zhang asked curiously. With an investor like him calling the shots, he had no objections—especially since someone like Jiang Chen was involved.
"Lin Bingbing," Jiang Chen replied.
"Lin Bingbing? I heard she has been shelved by her company," Director Zhang said in slight surprise, not expecting Lin Bingbing to be associated with someone as influential as Mr. Jiang.
"She just terminated her contract with her previous company; let’s cast her as the female lead," Jiang Chen said.
