A Ze's heart suddenly raced; he felt a bit nervous, unsure whether to approach and say hello. 0

After a moment of hesitation, he slowly walked over. 0

Xiao You seemed unaware of A Ze's arrival, completely focused on something in the grass. 0

A Ze reached Xiao You's side and softly asked, "What are you doing?" 0

Startled, Xiao You turned around and, upon seeing A Ze, broke into a delighted smile. 0

"A Ze! What are you doing here?" 0

"I... I was just wandering around," A Ze replied awkwardly. 0

"Are you catching fireflies?" he asked, noticing the net in Xiao You's hand. 0

Xiao You nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! I want to catch a few fireflies to give to my grandmother." 0

"To your grandmother?" A Ze asked, puzzled. 0

Xiao You explained with a smile, "Grandma says fireflies can bring good luck. I want her to be happy every day." 0

As A Ze looked at Xiao You, a warm feeling surged within him. He thought that this girl was not only lively and cheerful but also kind-hearted and filial. 0

"Can... can I help you?" A Ze mustered his courage to ask. 0

Xiao You's eyes lit up. "Sure! Let's catch them together!" 0

With A Ze's help, catching fireflies became much easier. 0

Although it was his first time catching fireflies, A Ze was clever and quickly mastered the technique. 0

He and Xiao You carefully searched for traces of fireflies along the edge of the field, in the grass, and between the rice paddies. 0

Whenever they discovered a firefly, they would excitedly call out, gently cover it with a net, and then place it into a small transparent glass jar. 0

The jar had been prepared by Xiao You in advance, filled with some moist soil and a few tender green leaves, creating a cozy little home for the fireflies. 0

As the sun gradually set, the sky was painted in a brilliant orange-red hue. 0

The glow of the fireflies also grew brighter. 0

They danced in the fields like twinkling stars, adorning the beautiful dusk. 0

Xiao You and A Ze sat side by side on the edge of the field, watching the fluttering fireflies, their faces lit up with joyful smiles. 0

“A Ze, look how beautiful they are!” Xiao You said softly. 0

A Ze nodded. “Yes, very beautiful.” 0

He turned to look at Xiao You. 0

In the afterglow of the sunset, her face appeared particularly lovely, her eyes sparkling like stars in the sky. 0

Suddenly, A Ze felt that Xiao You was even more beautiful than the fireflies. 0

He wanted to say something to her but found himself at a loss for words. 0

“A Ze,” Xiao You suddenly spoke, “did you know that the light of fireflies is actually a language?” 0

“Language?” A Ze was a bit surprised. 0

“Yeah,” Xiao You nodded. “Grandma says that fireflies use different flashing frequencies and brightness to express different meanings.” 0

“Really?” A Ze found it fascinating. 0

“Of course it’s true!” Xiao You exclaimed. “Grandma also said that if we observe carefully, we can understand the language of fireflies.” 0

A Ze looked at the dancing fireflies, trying hard to comprehend their language, but he couldn’t hear anything. 0

“What are they… saying?” A Ze asked Xiao You. 0

Xiao You smiled and pointed to a firefly flying towards them. “Look, it’s saying, ‘Hello, new friend!’” 0

A Ze watched the firefly; it seemed to be winking at him. 0

Suddenly, he felt as if he truly understood the language of the fireflies. 0

He smiled, and for the first time since coming to the countryside, it was a genuine smile from his heart. 0
