My best friend said she would take me to a part-time job, but instead, she sold me into an underground boxing ring.
As a delicate woman with no fighting skills, I found myself facing a Professional Boxer in a life-or-death match.
The Muscle Man across from me could probably knock out a bull with one punch, and I felt like my time was up.
Just as I was preparing to accept my fate, I spotted a man sitting in the audience.
Dressed in a suit with a cool demeanor, it was none other than Huo Han!
Five years ago, he was my Martial Arts Coach and my first love.
Then he suddenly disappeared, and when he reappeared, he had become the Underground Boxing King.
I looked at him, tears streaming down my face uncontrollably.
Well, Huo Han, not only did you steal my heart, but you also watched me walk into danger!
...
"Mu Xue, this part-time job is super easy; it's just working as a waitress at a High-End Club." Yao Yuxin linked her arm with mine. "You get 500 a day, plus meals and accommodation."
I rolled my eyes. "Do you really think good fortune falls from the sky for us?"
"Why are you so suspicious?" She pinched me. "I've been doing it for a month now; the boss is really nice."
Seeing her sincere expression made me waver.
Recently, our family had been struggling financially; my father's medical bills felt like an endless pit. This high-paying job was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.
"Alright, I'll go with you to check it out."
Yao Yuxin's eyes lit up. "Then tonight it is! I'll take you to meet the boss."
At eight o'clock in the evening, she led me to an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city. From a distance, I could hear deafening shouts and music.
My heart sank. "What is this place?"
"Don't be afraid, just follow me."
As we passed through a dimly lit corridor, the scene opened up before me. The large workshop had been transformed into an underground fighting arena, with a cage in the center and frenzied spectators packed around it.
Inside the arena, two men were fighting bare-chested, blood splattering everywhere.
I turned to run but was grabbed by Yao Yuxin. "Thinking of escaping? It's too late."
Her voice was cold and unfamiliar, lacking any trace of the warmth of a close friend.
Two burly men suddenly appeared and restrained my arms.
"Miss Lin, I've heard so much about you." A heavily made-up woman approached in high heels.
"Who are you?"
"Let me introduce myself; I'm the owner here. You can call me sister Hong." She pinched my chin with her bright red nails. "Your father swindled us out of quite a bit of money back in the day; it's time to pay it back."
I widened my eyes. "My father has never done anything wrong!"
"Hah, the Lin Family Martial Arts School borrowed five million from us before going under. How do you plan to settle that?"
I looked at Yao Yuxin. "You knew all along?"
She sneered. "And what if I did? Who told your family to go bankrupt while pretending to be high and mighty? You think I wanted to be your friend? If it weren't for sister Hong paying me, I wouldn't even bother with you."
"The main event tonight is having the Lin family's daughter step into the arena," sister Hong grinned maliciously. "If you win, the debt is wiped clean. If you lose... well, you'll stay here forever."
I was pushed into the cage, facing a muscular giant standing opposite me.
"Begin!"
The burly man swung his fist at me, and I barely managed to dodge. Although I had practiced martial arts since childhood, I was no match for this desperate thug!
Just as despair began to settle in, I caught a glimpse of a familiar figure in the audience.
The man was dressed in a sharp suit, his features cold and composed, intently watching me.
It was him!
The boy who taught me martial arts five years ago, my first love, Huo Han!
What was he doing in a place like this?
Before I could process it, the burly man charged at me again.
"Bang!"
I was knocked to the ground by a punch, blood spilling from the corner of my mouth.
The audience erupted into cheers, Yao Yuxin grinning triumphantly from below.
I struggled to get back on my feet and looked towards Huo Han.
He remained seated, expressionless as he watched everything unfold.
So, Huo Han, not only did you steal my heart, but you also stood there and watched me die!
