The next morning, sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, bathing the dormitory in a warm golden glow. Nezha slowly opened his eyes, recalling the plan he had made with Ao Bing the night before. Tonight was the full moon, and they had to thwart Shen Gongbao's scheme to open the Dragon Gate.
Turning to the opposite bed, he saw that Ao Bing was already up, sitting at his desk and intently flipping through an ancient text. His expression was serious and focused, and the sunlight danced on his light blue hair, outlining a soft silhouette.
"Good morning," Nezha yawned, sitting up and stretching. "What are you so engrossed in?"
Ao Bing looked up, his face slightly weary, clearly having been awake for some time. "I'm researching information about the Dragon Gate Ceremony. Shen Gongbao needs specific arrangements and incantations to complete the ritual. If we can understand them in advance, we might find a way to counteract it."
Nezha jumped out of bed and leaned over to look at the ancient text. The dense symbols and patterns made his head spin. "Can you understand it? These characters look like a foreign language."
"I can comprehend most of it; I've been exposed to this since I was young," Ao Bing explained, gently tracing a line of ancient script with his finger. "It mentions that the Dragon Gate Ceremony requires seven Dragon Tribe tokens to form the Seven Star Formation, along with a vessel of Dragon Tribe bloodline to channel energy and open the passage to the Dragon Palace."
"Shen Gongbao already has three of them," Nezha recalled. "He’s also after your Dragon Scale. That leaves three more?"
Ao Bing nodded, his brow furrowed. "And it states that the ritual must be performed during the full moon, specifically between eleven at night and one in the morning. We don’t have much time left."
Nezha unconsciously clenched his fists. "I won’t let him succeed. No matter what his scheme is, I will protect you."
Ao Bing looked up at Nezha, surprise and gratitude flickering in his eyes before he quickly regained his composure. "Thank you, but this isn’t just about me. If Shen Gongbao really opens the Dragon Gate and gains the power of the Dragon Palace, the entire world will be in danger."
"Regardless, we must stop him today," Nezha said firmly. "It’s time to contact Li Ming, right? Stick to the plan?"
Ao Bing nodded and took out his phone to send a message to Li Ming, detailing their agreement from last night: he would go alone to the library this afternoon before closing to gather information and have Li Ming relay it to Shen Gongbao.
After the message was sent, the two continued to refine the details of their plan. They decided to set up an ambush near the library. When Shen Gongbao appeared to capture Ao Bing, Nezha would strike from the shadows, and together they would subdue Shen Gongbao.
As they discussed, Ao Bing's phone rang; it was a reply from Li Ming:
"I've informed Shen Gongbao. He seems quite interested and said he would personally visit the library. Be careful; I feel he’s suspicious and has been watching my expressions."
"It looks like the plan is already in motion," Ao Bing said, putting away his phone with a serious expression. "But I'm worried about Li Ming's safety. If Shen Gongbao discovers he's helping us..."
"If that bastard dares to hurt Li Ming, I won't let him get away with it!" Nezha clenched his fists, anger flashing in his eyes.
Ao Bing gently patted his shoulder. "Calm down, Nezha. Anger can cloud your judgment. We need to stay composed to face the challenges ahead."
Nezha took a deep breath and nodded. "You're right. I'm sorry; sometimes I can't control my emotions."
"It's nothing," Ao Bing replied with a slight smile. "Your passion and sense of justice are your strengths; you just need to temper them sometimes so that the enemy doesn't take advantage of you."
Nezha looked at Ao Bing in surprise, not expecting such praise. In his impression, Ao Bing had always criticized his impulsiveness and spontaneity. Hearing this affirmation warmed his heart.
"Uh... thanks," Nezha said, scratching his head awkwardly. "I always thought you thought I was too reckless."
"Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses," Ao Bing said calmly. "What's important is how to leverage your strengths while mitigating your weaknesses. Your enthusiasm and courage are valuable traits, especially in times of crisis."
Nezha grinned widely, revealing his signature tiger teeth. "What about you? You're always so calm and rational; don't you ever feel scared?"
