Ao Bing fell silent for a moment, his gaze drifting outside the window. "Of course I feel fear. But since childhood, I have been taught that as the heir of the Dragon Tribe, I must learn to control my emotions and think rationally. Fear, anger, joy... these are all normal emotions, but I cannot let them dictate my actions."
Nezha nodded thoughtfully. This was the first time Ao Bing had opened up to him, sharing his inner feelings. He suddenly realized that beneath Ao Bing's seemingly calm exterior lay a rich emotional world that he had grown accustomed to hiding.
"It sounds quite burdensome," Nezha said softly. "Carrying such great responsibility and expectations from such a young age."
Ao Bing looked at Nezha, a hint of surprise in his eyes, as if he hadn’t expected him to understand his situation. "Sometimes it is indeed very hard. But this is my identity, my responsibility; I must accept it."
"Hey, at least you're not alone now," Nezha said, patting his shoulder with a light tone but a firm gaze. "I’ll be here to face it with you."
Ao Bing smiled slightly, the coldness in his eyes gradually melting away. "Thank you, Nezha. Having you by my side does make me feel much more at ease."
The two exchanged smiles, and the barriers between them seemed to dissolve further. In these challenging days, they had found mutual understanding and support.
Around noon, they had a simple lunch before continuing to refine their plan. Ao Bing drew a floor plan of the library, marking possible hiding spots and escape routes, while Nezha checked their prepared equipment, including several special potions made by Ao Bing that could resist illusions and enhance physical strength.
"Remember," Ao Bing instructed, "Shen Gongbao is likely to use illusions to confuse us. If you feel your vision blurring or your thoughts becoming chaotic, drink this potion immediately."
Nezha took the potion and carefully placed it in his pocket. "Don’t worry; I’ll be careful. You too—don’t push yourself too hard."
Ao Bing nodded. "We’ll meet at the library at four o'clock. According to the plan, I will go in first while you observe from outside. Once you spot Shen Gongbao, then act."
The two confirmed the final details before preparing separately. Ao Bing organized the materials and potions while Nezha went downstairs to stretch and ensure that his abilities were in peak condition.
At three-thirty in the afternoon, Ao Bing set off for the library. Nezha took a longer route to ensure he wasn’t being followed and quietly entered through the side door of the library.
The Ancient Texts Area of the library was located on the third floor, relatively secluded, and usually not crowded. As closing time approached, there were hardly any students around. Ao Bing chose a seat by the window and began to flip through books, appearing focused while actually remaining alert to his surroundings.
Nezha hid behind a bookshelf, his gaze fixed on the entrance, ready to act at any moment. Time passed slowly, and as fewer people remained in the library, it became so quiet that one could almost hear the sound of pages turning.
Just as the library's announcement reminded everyone that there were fifteen minutes until closing, a familiar figure appeared at the entrance—Shen Gongbao. Dressed in a suit and exuding an air of sophistication, he scanned the area as if searching for something. When his gaze landed on Ao Bing, a subtle smile crept onto his lips.
Nezha held his breath, fists clenched, poised to strike.
Shen Gongbao walked slowly toward Ao Bing, his footsteps echoing in the stillness of the library.
“Ao Bing,” Shen Gongbao began, his voice warm and polite, “what a coincidence to see you studying here so late.”
Ao Bing looked up, maintaining a calm expression. “Professor Shen, it’s you. Yes, I’m just looking up some materials; I’ll be leaving soon.”
“What materials are you researching?” Shen Gongbao asked naturally as he pulled out a chair and sat down across from Ao Bing. “It looks like ancient texts? That’s not something ordinary students are usually interested in.”
