Huang Jun was engrossed in his thoughts when the power went out again, leaving him frustrated. He stood atop the sink for a few minutes, but the darkness remained impenetrable. Reluctantly, he jumped down, recalling that there was a small flashlight near the refrigerator. He groped his way over and soon found it. When he turned it on, the light was dim and yellowish, but it would have to do as he made his way back to Li Fen's room. 0

Halfway there, he was startled by a knock at the door. Who could it be at this hour? The knocking sounded urgent. He wasn't a resident of Li Fen's home; should he really open the door? Remembering that Li Fen was fast asleep, he hesitated before turning back toward the entrance. 0

He pulled open the door, and the corridor outside was illuminated by emergency lights. Standing at the threshold was a woman, and as soon as their eyes met, both of them froze. 0

Wasn't she the beautiful woman who had just been in the shower? Huang Jun's heart raced at the sight of her. Her hair was wrapped in a towel, with droplets of water clinging to her strands. She wore a bathrobe that seemed hastily thrown on; she held it closed with one hand and looked at Huang Jun with wide eyes, an image of fresh beauty. 0

The woman was equally puzzled; she had thought only Li Fen was home next door. Who was this tall and handsome young man? Unable to help herself, she gazed up at him. 0

“Excuse me,” Huang Jun asked, “Is there something you need?” 0

“I live next door,” she replied with a smile. “Is Li Fen home?” 0

“Um…” Huang Jun felt a bit embarrassed. “Li Fen just fell asleep. Can I help you with something?” 0

“Oh, I’m sorry,” she said. “The power is out, and I didn’t prepare anything at home. I was wondering if I could borrow a flashlight or some candles?” 0

Huang Jun was caught off guard by her request. After thinking for a moment, he replied, “I only have this one flashlight, and as you can see, it’s almost out of battery. As for candles… I might need to look for them.” 0

“Li Fen’s mother usually keeps them in the kitchen.” It seemed she knew Li Fen’s family well. 0

“Well then… I can look for them. Could you help me search?” Huang Jun figured she would know the layout better than he did. 0

“Sure!” The woman stepped inside, her feet clad in soft slippers making no sound as she walked. 0

They moved toward the kitchen under the increasingly dim light of the flashlight. The woman, seemingly timid, grasped Huang Jun’s wrist as they walked and asked, “Are you Li Fen’s boyfriend?” 0

Huang Jun felt uneasy about admitting that; he didn’t want to cause any trouble for Li Fen. “No, I’m just her senior,” he replied. 0

“Oh…” she said, drawing out the word in a way that left him unsure of her thoughts. 0

She took two quick steps closer to him, leaning against his arm softly. Huang Jun couldn’t help but slightly shift his elbow, feeling her warmth against him; she seemed oblivious to his subtle movements. 0

As they entered the kitchen, neither knew where the candles were kept. 0

“Where should we look?” Huang Jun turned slightly, his arm brushing against her chest more clearly now. 0

“Maybe in that drawer!” The woman pointed ahead, almost pressing herself against him. 0

“Or perhaps over here?” Huang Jun intentionally leaned closer while indicating another row of drawers behind her. 0
