At that moment, a graceful girl walked up to Ao Bing and confidently extended her hand. "Ao Bing, senior! I’m Lin Yuqing, a freshman from the Music Department. Your performance was amazing! 'Rain's Mark' is one of my favorite pieces, and I never expected to hear such a professional rendition at the campus music festival!"
Ao Bing politely shook her hand. "Thank you. Are you also interested in Debussy?"
"I love him!" Lin Yuqing's eyes lit up. "His Impressionist music style is unique and creative, especially his depictions of light and nature; they always resonate with me."
A hint of surprise and admiration flashed in Ao Bing's eyes. "Indeed. Debussy's music has a special magic that immerses people in the world he creates."
The two quickly found common ground, discussing everything from Debussy to Chopin, from classical music to modern jazz. Lin Yuqing was not only beautiful but also articulate, clearly a talented and cultured individual.
Nezha finally squeezed through the crowd to Ao Bing's side, but upon seeing Ao Bing engrossed in conversation with Lin Yuqing, he felt an inexplicable sense of discomfort.
"Nezha," Ao Bing noticed his arrival and waved him over. "You’re here."
Nezha forced a smile. "Yeah, your performance was fantastic! Absolutely stunning!"
"Thank you," Ao Bing replied with a slight smile before introducing Lin Yuqing. "This is my roommate, Li Nezha. Nezha, this is Lin Yuqing, a student from the Music Department."
"Hello," Lin Yuqing said warmly as she extended her hand. "I've heard so much about 'Li Nezha' from the Magic City University Soccer Team; it’s great to finally meet you!"
Nezha was somewhat surprised; he hadn’t realized his fame had spread to the Music Department. He shook hands with Lin Yuqing. "Hello."
"Ao Bing is right; Nezha is our school's star from the Magic City University Soccer Team," Ao Bing introduced him with a tone of pride that Nezha had never heard before. "In a recent inter-school match, he scored three goals by himself, helping our school achieve its best results in the past decade."
Lin Yuqing looked at Nezha in surprise. "That's impressive! It seems our school has two hidden talents—musical genius Ao Bing and football prodigy Nezha!"
Ao Bing and Lin Yuqing exchanged smiles, and a pang of bitterness surged within Nezha. He disliked the feeling of being excluded, especially when it came to Ao Bing sharing such camaraderie with others.
"By the way, Senior Ao Bing," Lin Yuqing said as she pulled a card from her bag, "the Music Department is hosting a small salon next week with the theme of Impressionist Music. We would love to invite you to join us. Your performance of Debussy is so wonderful; it would surely inspire everyone!"
Ao Bing took the card. "Thank you for the invitation. I will consider it."
"That's great!" Lin Yuqing exclaimed excitedly. "If you can come, everyone will be thrilled! By the way, we also have a chamber music group, and you're welcome to join if you're interested!"
Ao Bing pondered for a moment. "The chamber music group sounds interesting, but I might not have much time to practice lately..."
"That's okay! Our rehearsal times are very flexible and can be arranged according to everyone's schedules," Lin Yuqing said enthusiastically. "And with your level of skill, you'll fit right in with the team!"
Nezha listened from the side, feeling increasingly unsettled. He couldn't understand why he felt this way—Ao Bing making new friends should make him happy, so why did he feel irritated and lost instead?
"Hey, Senior Ao Bing, let's exchange contact information," Lin Yuqing said as she took out her phone. "That way, I can send you the details about the salon directly."
