In the golden autumn, the campus was adorned with crimson maple leaves, and the refreshing autumn breeze swept through. Nezha and Ao Bing had entered the second semester of their university life. Although Shen Gongbao's sudden return had brought some unease to both of them, as time passed, everything seemed to return to normal. Shen Gongbao indeed focused solely on teaching, showing no signs of unusual behavior.
One morning, Nezha was engaged in his daily training on the playground. Ever since joining the Magic City University Soccer Team, he had been committed to morning practice every day, regardless of the weather. Ao Bing sometimes accompanied him, but more often than not, he spent his mornings in the library or the Piano Room.
"Hey, Nezha!" Li Ming, the captain of the Magic City University Soccer Team, waved from a distance. "Training this early?"
Nezha looked up and smiled. "The early bird catches the worm!"
"Well said!" Li Ming gave a thumbs-up. "By the way, are you ready for next week's Intercollegiate League? The opponent is last year's champion team."
Nezha confidently patted his chest. "Don't worry, Captain! I'll give it my all!"
After training, Nezha jogged back to the dormitory, contemplating whether to invite Ao Bing for breakfast. Ever since realizing his feelings for Ao Bing that night at the music festival, Nezha had been carefully maintaining a balance between them—he didn't want to jeopardize their hard-earned friendship due to his feelings but couldn't help wanting to know more about Ao Bing and get closer to him.
As Nezha pondered, he noticed a luxurious black sedan parked in front of the dormitory building. A few burly men in black suits stood beside it, exuding an imposing aura that clearly indicated they were not ordinary people. Out of curiosity, Nezha slowed down and observed from a distance.
Suddenly, the main door of the dormitory opened, and a middle-aged man stepped out. He was tall and imposing with a serious demeanor. His short black hair was streaked with silver, and he wore a tailored deep blue suit that radiated an undeniable presence. What caught Nezha's attention even more was the rare blue color of his eyes—strikingly similar to Ao Bing's.
"Ao Bing's father?" Nezha's heart raced as he instinctively stopped and hid behind a large tree. Although he had never seen Ao Bing's father before, that distinctive blue-eyed gaze and commanding aura made him almost certain this was the Dragon King—Ao Bing's father whom he had heard about.
The middle-aged man glanced around with a furrowed brow before turning and getting into the sedan. The luxurious car slowly drove away from the campus, leaving Nezha standing there with a sense of unease swelling within him.
Why had Ao Bing's father suddenly visited? Could there have been some conflict with Ao Bing? A flurry of questions swirled in Nezha's mind as he hurried toward the dormitory building.
As Nezha pushed open the dormitory door, he found Ao Bing sitting at his desk, his hands propping up his forehead, looking deeply troubled. Several documents were spread out on the table, resembling business contracts.
“Ao Bing, what’s wrong?” Nezha asked softly as he set down his training bag.
Ao Bing suddenly looked up, as if he had just noticed Nezha’s presence. He quickly gathered the papers and tucked them away in a drawer. “It’s nothing, just some family matters.”
Nezha hesitated for a moment but decided to be straightforward. “I think I saw your father earlier. Did he come to see you?”
Ao Bing’s body stiffened noticeably, then he let out a soft sigh. “Yes, he came.”
Nezha walked over to Ao Bing’s side and asked with concern, “Is everything alright? You don’t look so good.”
