"Neng Neng, come home with me," Ming Jiu said, extending his hand to the girl before him.
Nen Yin was the daughter of Qian Mei, a princess of the Celestial Fox clan, born from an illicit affair with an outsider. Qian Mei had raised her in the forbidden grounds of the Celestial Fox clan.
Later, when the truth came to light, Qian Mei brought Nen Yin to Kunlun Mountain to seek him out. Because he owed Qian Mei a favor from a hundred years ago, he had no choice but to take Nen Yin in.
Little did he expect that after just a few hundred years, the vibrant and beautiful girl he had raised, as radiant as a blooming Phoenix Flower, would be lured away by that scoundrel Zhu Fei.
Nen Yin bit her lip and slowly knelt down, bowing three times to Ming Jiu. "Little Father, though you are not my biological father, you have taken care of me for a thousand years. I cannot repay your kindness. I have been willful and impulsive, causing you worry. I only wish for you to love me just this once more."
"Neng Neng... is already pregnant with Zhu Fei's child..."
"You!" Ming Jiu felt both heartbroken and furious. He clenched his fists and glared at Zhu Fei, who seemed indifferent nearby. "Is this how you feel about Neng Neng?!"
Zhu Fei lazily brushed off his sleeves. "Our relationship is mutual; besides, Celestial Fox women are known for their affections. Isn't her mother the best example? Whether the child in her womb is truly mine is still uncertain..."
Ming Jiu let out a roar and summoned the Ling Xiao Sword, aiming it at that damned snake before him.
He should have known there had been animosity between him and Zhu Fei for ten thousand years. Out of respect for Zhu Fei being from a younger generation, he had chosen not to hold grudges. However, Teng She was inherently suspicious and vengeful; Zhu Fei had taken full advantage of Teng She's nature.
Never did he expect that Zhu Fei would target Nen Yin. This was something he could not tolerate!
Zhu Fei snorted coldly, and the two beasts immediately engaged in a fierce battle. Yet Zhu Fei was ultimately at a disadvantage. Just as Ming Jiu's sword was about to pierce Zhu Fei's heart, Nen Yin shouted from behind, "Don't!"
Ming Jiu let out a muffled groan as he looked at the dagger piercing through his right shoulder—it was the Li Wen he had given to Nen Yin for self-defense.
The Li Wen was forged from a millennium-old ice beneath the hundred-foot cold of Kunlun Mountain, tempered by true fire, impervious to water and fire, capable of slicing through iron like mud. If it pierced the body, it could cause the essence of gods and monsters to drain rapidly, leading to a swift depletion of blood.
Yet now, it was being used by Nen Yin against him.
Beside him, Zhu Fei seized the opportunity to strike with his sharp tongue, fully embracing his nature: "Hmph, don’t think that the deities of Twenty Heavens are unaware of your intentions. You’ve raised Nen Yin for so many years just to fulfill your own desires—an old bull eating tender grass, huh?"
"Ha! Ha! Ha!" Ming Jiu spat out a mouthful of blood, repeating "Ha" three times. He pulled the Li Wen from his shoulder and tossed it to the ground, using his remaining strength to unsteadily rise on a cloud.
His vision gradually blurred; he could no longer discern east from west and eventually fell.
It felt as if he had dropped into a forest, unable to maintain his form as blood continued to flow from his wound.
The sky darkened slowly, then became pitch black before brightening again; he could no longer tell what was what.
After an unknown amount of time, voices began to emerge from the entrance of the woods.
"Damn it, that old turtle is truly unreliable. Didn’t they say to turn left at Cedar Forest and then right?"
Su Qianyang frowned as he muttered to himself, wondering how he had walked for so long without seeing a single living creature.
As Su Qianyang walked and surveyed the Birch Forest around him, he suddenly spotted something on the ground ahead—a blood-stained Ice Silk Crescent White garment, a belt embedded with Ice Blue Crystals, and a pair of boots woven with silver threads.
"Ah—"
She covered her mouth and jumped up in fright. Could this be the scene of a crime?
As she moved forward, she spotted a small, unconscious creature lying quietly beneath a birch tree that was large enough for two people to embrace.
It was tiny, barely reaching her knees when standing, with soft, snow-white fur, sprawled in a pool of blood.
Su Qianyang's heart tightened at the sight, and she hurried over to gently pick it up.
She noticed its pointed ears perk up slightly, and its bright black eyes opened, glancing at her faintly.
"How pitiful. How did you end up in this deep mountain? Were you bullied by the wild beasts here?"
She parted its fur to examine it but found that the wound was surprisingly clean, unlike injuries caused by wild animals. Blood flowed continuously from the wound, staining the ground beneath the creature red and making her hands wet and sticky.
"Woo, how could anyone be so cruel?" With tears in her eyes, she tore a piece from her clothing to bandage the creature. "Hang in there, little one. As long as we can get out of this forest and find our way back to Xian Yu Ling Yuan, everything will be alright."
