Chen Renjing was a proud and arrogant girl, especially when facing ordinary people. She felt superior and naturally did not want her spotlight to be stolen by someone insignificant. Thus, she targeted Jiang Chen at every turn. Even though Jiang Chen was behaving differently now, she was unwilling to accept the reality.
At Jingcheng Hotel, Qin Xiaoya had already booked a private room, but she had not arrived yet. She went to Capital City University to pick up Jiang Lu and Qin Xusha, who had four classes this afternoon and would take some time.
When Jiang Chen and the others arrived at the private room, there were three large round tables set up, more than enough for everyone present today.
“Hey, Jiang Chen, where's your CEO friend? Why hasn’t she come yet?” Chen Renjing asked.
“She went to pick up her sister and my sister. She'll be here soon; let’s sit down first,” Jiang Chen replied with a slight smile.
“Your sister?” Wang Shun Yuan was taken aback. Jiang Chen's mother had passed away when he was born, and his father had never remarried—where could he have a sister from?
“Yes, my sister and her sister both study at Capital City University,” Jiang Chen quickly winked at Wang Shun Yuan. He knew that Wang Shun Yuan was unaware of the situation regarding his god-sister, so he understood his confusion.
Seeing Jiang Chen's expression, Wang Shun Yuan didn’t press further despite his curiosity.
While waiting for Qin Xiaoya to arrive, Huang Lin’s friends were whispering among themselves.
“I wonder what company this guy's CEO friend is from?”
“I bet it's just some unknown small company.”
“A small company’s CEO can drive a Rolls-Royce Phantom? I think they must be from at least a medium-sized company.”
“With assets in the hundreds of millions, you can drive a Rolls-Royce Phantom. People like that are common in our capital city; there are at least eight thousand of them. We can't know them all.”
Jiang Chen naturally heard their discussions but pretended not to notice. He called over Wang Shun Yuan, Gao Kang, and Liu Ying to play cards together.
Huang Lin and Chen Renjing, being from the north, didn’t know how to play the card game and found it boring, so they decided to step outside for a bit. This was only the second time Chen Renjing had been to Jingcheng Hotel, while Huang Lin’s group had never been there before; the girls went out together to explore.
“Ha ha! Boss, you and Gao Kang are both top students but can’t compete with me and Jiang Chen. We leveled up again!” After playing a few rounds, it was quickly evident that Jiang Chen and Liu Ying were dominating the game.
“Gao Kang doesn’t even play cards; you guys have corrupted him,” Wang Shun Yuan laughed.
Just as they were enjoying their game, suddenly the door of the private room was pushed open violently. Huang Lin and her friends rushed back in with panic on their faces.
“Not good! Not good! Shun Yuan, Chen Renjing is in trouble!” Huang Lin exclaimed as she hurried to Wang Shun Yuan.
“What happened?” Wang Shun Yuan asked, still holding onto his cards. He didn’t have much fondness for Chen Renjing; if it weren’t for his connection with Huang Lin, he wouldn’t bother with her affairs at all.
A few girls in the next room just saw Chen Renjing. One of them said that Chen Renjing had splashed her with a drink at the bar before and was determined to get revenge. She called over the boys from their room and took Chen Renjing with them. We need to hurry and save Chen Renjing; if we wait too long, she will definitely be humiliated by them. Huang Lin was incredibly anxious, pulling Wang Shun Yuan along as they headed out.
Although Wang Shun Yuan was reluctant, he had no choice but to stand up. Liu Ying also got up and said, "Let's go together."
