When the two elders arrived at the hotel and saw the luxurious wedding venue, they were momentarily stunned.
"Hey, why does this look different from the pictures?" They turned to their son.
"We changed the location; this place is better," Wang Shun Yuan explained.
"This must have cost a lot of money. Son, don’t think your mother and I are naive. How could you afford this? When I entered the hotel, I saw that it’s a five-star hotel! With your savings, it surely isn’t enough. You’re not planning to have the bride’s family pay for the wedding, are you?" Wang Shun Yuan's father said.
"Son, this isn’t a joke. Your in-laws already look down on us. If they pay for the wedding, how will you hold your head high in front of them? If you’re short on cash, just tell us; your dad and I still have some savings," his mother added.
"Mom, Dad, don’t worry. This was arranged by a friend of mine," Wang Shun Yuan reassured them.
"Your friend?" The two elders were taken aback, finding it hard to believe.
"It really is my friend. I’ll explain everything later," Wang Shun Yuan said, unsure of how to clarify but only able to deflect for now.
He arranged for his parents to change clothes before heading out to pick up the bride.
The convoy was also arranged by Qin Xiaoya—eight Rolls-Royces drove into the village where Huang Lin lived, attracting much attention from the villagers.
"Weren't we told that Huang Lin was marrying a poor guy? Why is there such a grand wedding?"
"I’ve seen Huang Lin’s boyfriend; he’s just an ordinary office worker from a rural area in Southeast Province. That’s why her parents opposed it so much, but Huang Lin insisted on marrying him. I heard she’s already pregnant, so they had to get married."
"I bet it’s all for show; you know how the Huang family is—they care about their image. Even if their daughter is marrying poorly, they can’t lose face."
"If it’s just for show, they must have spent a fortune renting these cars; it probably costs over a hundred thousand yuan! And I heard the lunch is at a five-star hotel."
The villagers gathered in small groups along the roadside, discussing among themselves.
The convoy stopped in front of Huang Lin's house, looking quite impressive. Jiang Chen noticed Huang Lin's hometown; if it weren't for its proximity to the capital city, it was no different from his own village. He couldn’t understand why Huang Lin's parents looked down on Wang Shun Yuan.
Of course, today was his big brother's wedding day, so Jiang Chen didn’t want to dwell on it too much.
Jiang Chen and others accompanied Wang Shun Yuan to Huang Lin's door, which was tightly shut. A group of children stood at the entrance asking for red envelopes.

Then Wang Shun Yuan stood at the door calling for Huang Lin to open up while Jiang Lu and Qin Xiaoya shouted from inside for big red envelopes. Since it was Sunday, Jiang Lu and Qin Xiaoya didn’t have classes.
Wang Shun Yuan slipped a red envelope through the crack in the door, which then opened smoothly. Afterward came some playful games like finding the bride's shoes and kneeling on a washboard.
Of course, there were also interactions between the bridesmaids and best men involving playful kisses; Gao Kang felt shy since he had a girlfriend while Jiang Chen showed no interest in such antics at all, leaving Liu Ying to take charge of those activities instead.
