Nezha carefully took the Jade Box and opened it, revealing a translucent Dragon Scale inside. It was very similar to the one Ao Bing had given him, but darker in color with faint crimson patterns.
"What is this?"
"It's Ao Bing's Dragon Scale, infused with my blood," Ao Lie explained. "This way, you can establish a more stable mental connection, regardless of distance. Ao Bing is currently under close surveillance and cannot contact the outside world, but through this Dragon Scale, you can meet in your dreams."
Nezha looked at Ao Lie in surprise. "Why are you helping us?"
Ao Lie's expression was complex. "I have my disagreements with Ao Bing, but that doesn't mean I don't care about his happiness. I can see that he truly cares for you, which is rare... The Dragon Tribe typically doesn't form such deep feelings for humans."
He paused, his gaze sharpening. "But I warn you, if you harm him or use him for your own purposes, I will make you wish you were never born."
"I would never hurt Ao Bing," Nezha said firmly. "On the contrary, I am working hard to become stronger so that I can protect him and the Dragon Tribe."
Ao Lie seemed somewhat taken aback. "Protect the Dragon Tribe? Do you know what that means? The Dragon Tribe and the Demon Orb have always been at odds; by doing this, you're challenging a millennia-old fate."
"Fate is meant to be broken," Nezha replied defiantly, meeting Ao Lie's gaze. "I want to prove through my actions that Demon Sphere Power can be used for protection rather than destruction. I will show everyone, including the Dragon Tribe, that I am not a source of calamity but a force capable of safeguarding light."
Ao Lie studied Nezha for a long time, as if assessing his determination. Finally, he nodded slightly. "Your courage is commendable, but mere determination is not enough. The strength of the Li Yang Sect far exceeds what you imagine; especially if Lady Shiji truly revives, it will be a disaster."
"That's why I'm training hard," Nezha said. "Under Taiyi Senior's guidance, I've been able to better control the Demon Sphere Power."
"Taiyi Zhenren is indeed a powerful ally," Ao Lie acknowledged. "But there are things she may not have told you. The truth about the Demon Orb is more complex than you think."
Nezha asked curiously, "What truth?"
Ao Lie shook his head. "Now is not the time to tell you. When you're truly ready, you'll naturally find out." He glanced at the sky. "I must return; the Dragon Palace cannot be without me for too long. Remember my warning: stay low-key and intensify your training. When the storm truly arrives, you'll need enough strength to face it."
With that, Ao Lie vanished in a flash of red light into the night sky.
Nezha stood there holding the special Dragon Scale, feeling a mix of emotions. Ao Lie's words were half-truths that made it hard to fully trust him, but the Dragon Scale did indeed emanate Ao Bing's essence, proving that at least part of what he said was true.
Back in his dormitory, Nezha placed the newly acquired Dragon Scale next to his original one. The two scales resonated with each other, emitting a soft blue light as if whispering secrets. Nezha felt a warm energy flowing into his heart, as if it were Ao Bing's distant call.
"Ao Bing..." Nezha softly called out, closing his eyes and sensing that faint connection.
There was no response, but that warm feeling remained, reassuring Nezha that Ao Bing was safe and sound. This brought him immense comfort and motivation.
