"You're the one who did this, aren't you? You called the police to catch me!"
I shook my head frantically, my voice trembling with tears. "Uncle, it wasn't me. I didn't call the police..."
The driver unbuckled his seatbelt and leaped from the driver's seat to the back row in one swift motion. His large hand gripped my arm like a vice, shaking me violently as he shouted, "Do you think I would believe you? You're just like them, a liar! You all want me dead!"
Dizziness washed over me; there was nowhere to escape in the cramped car. My pleading voice quivered in despair:
"Uncle, please, I don't want to hurt you, really! Please don't hurt me!"
However, the driver had completely lost faith in me. He dragged me out of the car, his fingers digging painfully into my flesh. Outside was a desolate suburb, with faint city lights visible in the distance. The driver roughly pushed me toward the back of the car. My legs gave way, and I fell to the ground, but he yanked me up and shoved me into the trunk.
"Uncle, please don’t… I beg you…" Before I could finish my plea, the trunk slammed shut with a heavy thud, plunging me into darkness. Trapped in the confined space, I could only hear the driver’s furious slamming of doors and the roar of the engine as he started the vehicle again.
I curled up in the dark; there was not a glimmer of light. The narrow confines and ropes binding me made it nearly impossible to move. I could hear my own breathing echoing in my ears, filled with despair.
In this dark hopelessness, I recalled the news I had heard earlier. It was Lily; it had to be Lily! She recognized my bracelet from the post! She called the police!
There was still hope! I still had a chance for rescue!
May 13th, 5:00 AM
The early morning sky was a pale blue-gray; it was the quietest moment of the day.
At that moment, I was desperately struggling and shouting, "Let me out! Uncle, I need to use the bathroom! Please!" I had been shouting for nearly ten minutes without pause.
Finally, the car came to a stop. I heard the driver’s footsteps outside, but he didn’t open the trunk. I could feel his gaze piercing through the trunk lid, scrutinizing me.
"Uncle, I'm not lying! I really... really need to use the bathroom... Please!" A sharp pain twisted in my abdomen, making it hard to concentrate.
Then with a click, the trunk slowly opened. Fresh air and morning sunlight flooded in, causing me to squint involuntarily.
He pulled me out of the trunk; my legs were numb from being curled up for so long and nearly gave way beneath me. As I looked around, I realized we were at a secluded park by the roadside; only a few trees and a solitary bench surrounded us, making it feel particularly desolate. He yanked me out of the trunk forcefully.
"Let’s go." He untied the ropes binding me and motioned for me to head toward a public restroom with an expressionless face while closely following behind me; there wasn’t a soul in sight.
"Hurry up; I'll be waiting outside. Don’t even think about escaping unless you want to die right now!" His eyes regained their previous coldness, even more menacing than before.
I took a deep breath, trembling as I nodded and walked into the restroom.
The door slowly closed behind me, placing a barrier between myself and the crazed murderer, providing me with a slight sense of safety.
The mirror reflected my haggard appearance, with tear stains and smeared makeup blending together, creating a disheveled sight that would have startled me if I had seen it before.
But now, I couldn't afford to dwell on that. Since I entered the restroom, I had been scanning every corner of the place.
My gaze landed on the small window high up in the restroom. It wasn't large, but it was big enough for a person to squeeze through!
