As autumn faded into winter, university life quietly approached its end. With the conclusion of their final semester, Nezha and Ao Bing faced a new choice—whether to continue living near campus after graduation or to move to a new place to start the next chapter of their lives.
After some discussion, they decided to rent an apartment in the city center, conveniently located near both the sports center and the conservatory of music. Nezha had officially signed with the Galaxy Football Club and was set to begin his professional career in the upcoming season, while Ao Bing had successfully applied for a graduate program at the Central Conservatory of Music and continued to advance preparations for the Underwater Concert Hall.
Their new home needed to accommodate their busy schedules while providing a warm shared space. On moving day, the sun shone brightly, and a gentle breeze filled the air. Nezha drove a rented small truck while Ao Bing navigated with a map, both carrying a few belongings as they headed toward their new home.
"Turn left, and we’ll be there in two hundred meters," Ao Bing said, glancing at his phone. "It should be that red apartment building."
Nezha looked in the direction Ao Bing pointed, spotting a cozy red brick apartment building surrounded by green trees and flower beds, exuding tranquility and comfort.
"We're here!" Nezha exclaimed excitedly as he parked the truck, jumping out with anticipation. "Finally, we have our own place! No more dorm curfews or outdated facilities!"
Ao Bing smiled at Nezha's childlike excitement, feeling warmth swell within him. From their first meeting until now, they had weathered many storms together, and today marked the beginning of their true cohabitation.
The apartment was on the fifth floor, and since the elevator was under maintenance, they had no choice but to carry their luggage up one trip at a time. Nezha struggled with heavy boxes, sweat soaking his T-shirt, yet his smile never faded; Ao Bing carefully cradled a box containing precious books and scores from the Dragon Tribe, anxious not to let anything go wrong.
Finally, after moving up the last piece of luggage, Nezha took out the key and solemnly inserted it into the lock. He turned the doorknob and pushed open the door to their new home.
"Welcome home, Ao Bing," Nezha said softly, his voice filled with tenderness.
Ao Bing paused for a moment before breaking into a warm smile. "We’re home."
The apartment was modest but well-laid-out with two bedrooms. The living room was bathed in light from large windows that offered views of the city skyline; although small, the kitchen was fully equipped; the master bedroom was spacious and comfortable while they designated the second bedroom as a study and Piano Room for Ao Bing's piano and Nezha's football collection.
"Do you remember our first day in the dorm?" Nezha asked suddenly as he stood amidst a sea of suitcases in the living room.
Ao Bing nodded. "Of course I do. Your suitcase exploded like a bomb, scattering clothes everywhere. I almost kicked you out of the dorm."
"And now," Nezha surveyed their surroundings, "this place is entirely ours; I can do whatever I want."
Ao Bing raised an eyebrow. "Don’t think just because we have our own place that you can avoid cleaning up. The Co-habitation Agreement is still in effect, Nezha."
Nezha exaggeratedly sighed. "As you command, Ice Block Face." Yet his eyes betrayed his feigned exasperation with amusement.
After a busy day of unpacking and organizing everything, they finally settled in. Ao Bing’s meticulous nature ensured that each item was neatly placed where it belonged; meanwhile, Nezha enjoyed a more carefree approach but gradually adopted some good habits under Ao Bing’s influence.
