"Who is Ma'erka?" There were still many older people who didn't recognize domestic celebrities, let alone foreign stars.
"Ma'erka is a famous singer from Great Britain, well-known all over the world, even more famous than those so-called diva singers in our country," a young person explained.
"Is she really that famous? It can't be the real person, right?" The older folks were taken aback.
"I also think it's not her, but she looks very much like her."
"It might be an impersonation show. We have plenty of those in our country. I've seen many impersonators singing at weddings online, and their appearance fees aren't that high—just a few tens of thousands."
Most people regarded the Ma'erka on stage as part of an impersonation show; after all, such international superstars felt too distant from their lives.
Ma'erka's sweet voice transformed into notes, her emotional singing resonating throughout the banquet hall.
Chen Renjing, a devoted fan of Ma'erka, was well aware of her presence. The girls at her table curiously asked Chen Renjing if the Ma'erka on stage was real. If this wedding hadn't been organized by Qin Xiaoya, Chen Renjing would have confidently said it was an impersonation show; after all, someone of Ma'erka's stature wouldn't perform at a wedding. However, since the wedding was planned by Qin Xiaoya, it was unlikely she would hire an impersonator to sing. Therefore, the Ma'erka on stage was most likely the real deal.
It made sense that Qin Xiaoya could invite Ma'erka since she happened to be in the capital; in this day and age, money could make anything happen. With Qin Xiaoya's status and wealth, hiring Ma'erka to sing wasn't a difficult task at all.
"It should be real," Chen Renjing said.
"Really? Is it really Ma'erka? Can we go take a photo with her?" A group of girls suddenly became excited.
Chen Renjing remained silent, feeling somewhat gloomy. Just yesterday, she had boasted in front of these people about having seen Ma'erka before, and now here she was right in front of them.
"I guess Ma'erka was invited by Miss Qin at a high price; she might just sing one song and leave, so don't get your hopes up about taking photos," Chen Renjing remarked, not wanting to see just anyone getting a picture with Ma'erka.
"That's true," everyone agreed with Chen Renjing's reasoning. Although they hadn't seen celebrities in person before, they had seen online videos where stars were quickly surrounded by bodyguards and rushed away after performing.
After finishing her song, Ma'erka indeed left immediately.
This was intentionally arranged; today’s focus should be on Wang Shun Yuan and Huang Lin. If Ma'erka went down to the audience now, she would likely be swarmed by people, creating chaos and drawing attention away from the newlyweds—how awkward that would be!
"See? I told you it would be nearly impossible to take a photo with Ma'erka. Miss Qin probably just invited her to sing one song; for someone like Ma'erka to perform even one song would cost at least ten million," Chen Renjing said.
Everyone sighed; celebrities really do make money fast.
After Ma'erka left, the wedding continued with both sets of parents taking the stage to say a few words before everyone sat down for dinner while the newlyweds went around each table to toast their guests.
At Jiang Chen's table were all young people; since Qin Xiaoya was also at this table, Chen Renjing couldn't speak freely anymore.
Suddenly, Qin Xiaoya's phone rang, and she glanced at Jiang Chen.
"It's Ma'erka; she wants to see you. Should I let her in?" Qin Xiaoya said.
