As night fell, the Grand View Garden became increasingly lively. A high platform had been erected in the garden, brightly lit, with performers adorned in exquisite makeup, their voices melodious. 0

Wang Xifeng kept pouring me wine, smiling brightly as she said, "Liu Laolao, you must drink a few more cups; this is a fine vintage from our estate." 0

I knew all too well that Feng Lazi was trying to get me drunk to probe my secrets. 0

"Oh dear, Second Mistress," I feigned reluctance, "how could an old woman like me handle such fine wine? My stomach can’t hold much." 0

With that, I stood up and swayed slightly, saying, "I've had too much to drink today. Ladies, I’m going out for some fresh air and to visit the restroom." 0

Sister Feng chuckled, "Please be careful, don’t fall." 0

I nodded repeatedly and stumbled out of the gathering. 0

Once out of sight, I let out a sigh of relief; thankfully, my tolerance was decent, or I would have been in trouble today. 0

Seeing no one around, I took advantage of my drunken demeanor and quietly made my way toward Wang Xifeng's courtyard. 0

Halfway there, I suddenly heard footsteps. My heart raced as I quickly hid behind a large tree. 0

In the moonlight, I saw it was a night watchwoman approaching with a lantern. 0

I held my breath and dared not move. Just as she was about to pass by, a voice called from afar, "Old Li, come help!" 0

The woman turned at the sound and hurried away. I exhaled deeply, feeling lucky. 0

Once she was far enough away, I continued to feign drunkenness as I made my way toward Wang Xifeng's courtyard. 0

Reaching the entrance, I noticed a little maid leaning against the door, dozing off. I felt a surge of joy and stealthily slipped inside. 0

Navigating through the bamboo grove in the courtyard, I found Wang Xifeng's bedroom. Pushing open the intricately carved screen door, a wave of sandalwood fragrance hit me. 0

In the center stood a gilded bed with a small table made of sandalwood carved in the shape of a passionflower beside it. On that table lay a stack of ledgers and several letters. 0

What did this mean? Was Wang Xifeng so confident that no one would dare intrude upon her room? Or was it a trap? 0

If it was a trap, taking anything would mean certain death for me. But if I didn’t take anything, this trip would be in vain; who knew if such an opportunity would arise again? 0

For Su’er’s sake, I had to take the risk! I stuffed the ledgers and letters into my bosom, feeling cold sweat break out all over my body. 0

Just as I was about to sneak out of Sister Feng's courtyard, I suddenly heard laughter coming from outside. Listening closely, it was none other than Wang Xifeng's voice! She was chatting with Ping'er and walking this way! 0

I was startled and looked around, but there was nowhere to hide. I had no choice but to flee in the opposite direction. As I ran, I could feel the weight of the account book and letters in my arms. 0

I didn't know how far I had run; it was pitch dark all around, and my old eyes were too dim to discern the direction. Anxiety and fear filled my heart. Suddenly, I caught sight of a delicate little courtyard, which appeared somewhat ethereal under the moonlight. Without thinking much, I dashed inside. 0

Upon taking a closer look, I couldn't help but gasp—this was no other place but Master Bao the Second's Yi Hong Courtyard! My heart sank at the realization. However, at this moment, it would be unwise to run out again for fear of alarming someone. 0

Reluctantly, I tiptoed and pushed open the door to Baoyu's bedroom. The room was filled with a fragrant aroma and was exquisitely decorated. In the center stood a carved nanmu bed, surrounded by crimson gauze curtains. Beside the bed was a delicate jade couch that sparkled like crystal. 0

What should I do now? After thinking for a moment, I decided to imitate Liu Laolao from the book and simply pretend to be mad. Steeling myself, I feigned drunkenness and collapsed onto Baoyu's bed. 0

Just as I was pretending to sleep, I suddenly heard footsteps approaching from the courtyard. 0
