"Is Master He available?" The voice of the inn attendant interrupted Mo Wen's thoughts. He opened the door to find two people outside: the attendant, of course, and the other was Brother Yin, whom he had encountered on his way up the mountain.
" Brother Yin!" Mo Wen was somewhat surprised. He had never mentioned his whereabouts to this gentleman; how had he found him?
"Forgive my sudden visit, brother Wen. I hope you do not mind my intrusion. Are you planning to engage in a duel with me?" After offering his apologies, he noticed that Mo Wen seemed unresponsive.
"Not at all, Brother Yin. You flatter me. Please, come in!" Realizing his lapse in manners, he quickly invited Yin Gongzi into the room.
The two sat on the floor by the tea table and brewed more tea.
" Brother Yin, please!"
" brother Wen, this tea has a unique flavor—slightly bitter at first, followed by a sweet aftertaste that makes one’s mouth water. It must be from ancient tea trees over a thousand years old..." After taking a sip, Yin Gongzi began to speak.
" Brother Yin is quite perceptive!" Mo Wen couldn't help but be amazed. This Yin Gongzi could discern the age of the tea tree with just one sip. It seemed that the man sitting across from him was not ordinary. Today, Yin Gongzi was dressed in elegant white attire, looking much healthier than when they first met on the mountain.
"It seems that Brother Yin is in high spirits due to some joyful event. I congratulate you! However, I suspect your visit today is not solely for tasting this rustic mountain tea!" Since Yin Gongzi's arrival, they had been drinking tea and chatting for nearly two hours, yet their conversation had revolved entirely around the tea in the pot. Mo Wen knew that Yin Gongzi had not come just for idle chatter; if it were a mere Literati scholar from Mo Bao Fang, perhaps that would be the case, but not for Yin Gongzi—they were of the same ilk.
"Haha! brother Wen is quite astute! Indeed." Yin Gongzi laughed heartily at Mo Wen's words, inviting him to guess his purpose for visiting.
"If I am not mistaken, you have come regarding the Poetry Gathering." Upon seeing Brother Yin, Mo Wen had already formed an answer in his mind; he was currently residing in a place only mentioned during the Poetry Gathering. To find him could only be through that event, and since Brother Yin participated without revealing himself, his identity was clear.
"Yes and no." Yin Gongzi replied while sipping his tea.
"Oh? Are you trying to tease me?"
"Hehe, it's not my intention to tease you, brother Wen; it’s just that this matter is difficult to articulate." The man across from him seemed reluctant to mention something from his past and smiled wryly as he looked down.
"Flower Blooms, Flower Falls, No Regrets; fate comes and goes like water. Since you find it inconvenient to speak of it, I apologize for my presumptuousness." Seeing Yin Gongzi like this made Mo Wen feel as though he had touched upon something painful that others preferred not to discuss while also confirming his suspicions.
"Haha! brother Wen's poetry flows effortlessly! If this continues, you might truly become a renowned talent in literary circles. What a beautiful sentiment—no regrets in love; fate flows like water. I have learned much from you." Hearing Mo Wen say this made Yin Gongzi laugh heartily.
"What do you mean by that? Am I not a scholar now? As for fame, I do not concern myself with it; composing poetry and reading countless books while traveling far is also a form of cultivation." Upon hearing Yin Gongzi's words, Mo Wen felt a tightening in his chest—was he not portraying the image of a talented scholar convincingly enough?
"Well then, brother Wen must have his own intentions. I indeed came here regarding matters related to the Poetry Gathering."
