"Because your Ancestor, Hua Yuejin, is quite reasonable, tonight, in light of Hua Yuejin, I will break one of your arms," Jiang Chen said casually, his attitude relaxed and carefree.
If Jiang Chen had spoken these words without taking action earlier, Hua Xu would have likely looked down on him again. But now, with one of his arms broken, he seemed much more subdued.
With a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes, Hua Xu showed signs of fear; he no longer held the same arrogance as before. One thought occupied his mind: this young man was not simple.
"Brother Hua, are you alright? You should hurry to the hospital; an arm can still be reattached," Gu Yu urged quickly.
However, despite his fear, Hua Xu was still someone who valued face. Having had an arm broken by Jiang Chen for no reason and not daring to utter a word in protest would ruin the reputation he had built over decades in the capital. An arm could be reattached, but a tarnished reputation could not be restored.
With a face that shifted between anger and despair, Hua Xu finally spoke in a low voice: "You hide your strength well, but your arrogance shows you know nothing of martial arts etiquette. Do you really think that just because you are stronger than me, you can break my arm at will?"
"You forgot what you just said so quickly. In martial arts, the weak are prey to the strong; you should thank me for sparing your life," Jiang Chen replied with a faint smile, his expression warm.
This casual demeanor while discussing murder only heightened the tension.
"But you overlook one thing: in this world, background is also very important. In this vast Huaxia, there are countless people who could kill me, but very few who would dare disregard the Hua Family behind me," Hua Xu said solemnly.
When one lacks the ability to intimidate their opponent directly, it is only natural to invoke their background in hopes of instilling fear. The Hua Family was indeed a formidable backing; as Hua Xu stated, there were very few who would dare disrespect them in Huaxia.
But today, it was simply bad luck for Hua Xu that he encountered Jiang Chen—who belonged to that select few.
"In my eyes, your Hua Family is no different from a bunch of chickens and dogs. Don't bring it up again. I will only give you face because of your Ancestor; if you continue to be ungrateful, next time it won't just be an arm—I'll take your head," Jiang Chen's voice grew slightly heavier, a pressure hanging like a sword above Hua Xu's head.
"Alright! You have quite the audacity! Our Hua Family has a hundred years of glory that you dare to slander? I will call my Ancestor here; I want to see if you still dare to act so arrogantly in front of him," Hua Xu retorted, though his tone lacked conviction.
Jiang Chen shook his head slightly; it seemed he wouldn't give up until he faced dire consequences.
"Then let me meet your Ancestor today; hurry and call him," Jiang Chen said with a calm smile.
Seeing Jiang Chen remain unafraid only made Hua Xu's heart race with uncertainty. Could this young man's background be greater than that of the Hua Family? That thought was too frightening for him to dwell on; he could only hope that Jiang Chen was merely putting on an act.
Hua Xu took out his phone and dialed home. Hua Yuejin usually remained secluded and rarely intervened in ordinary matters.
"Big Brother, I've had my arm broken by someone who openly disrespects our Ancestor; you must bring our Ancestor here personally," Hua Xu said into the phone.
The person on the other end was Hua Xu's elder brother, the current Clan Leader of the Hua Family, Hua Qian.
"What? You've had your arm broken? Who dares do such a thing in the capital? They must be tired of living!" Hua Qian exclaimed in shock. He knew his third brother well; although his martial arts skills weren't particularly high, he was competent enough and had navigated the capital's social scene for decades without anyone daring to disrespect him.
