I walked into the bridal shop, and my eyes were immediately drawn to two wedding dresses.
One was simple and elegant, with a smooth cut that was already beautiful enough, but the other one...
I was stunned; that dress looked like it had stepped right out of a fairy tale. The lace was intricate and delicate, adorned with tiny Swarovski crystals that sparkled brilliantly under the lights. The layers of the skirt cascaded like a dreamy cloud.
“Miss, why don’t you try on this Basic Model?” The Sales Assistant said with a sweet smile, pointing to the relatively modest dress.
I nodded, but deep down, I already understood something.
After changing into the wedding dress, I looked in the mirror and saw a pretty bride, yet something felt missing—something... substantial?
I couldn't help but walk over to the luxurious gown, gently caressing the delicate lace, a pang of longing stirring within me.
“Who is this… for?” I asked the Sales Assistant, trying to sound calm as I pointed at the dreamlike dress.
The Sales Assistant hesitated for a moment, her gaze flickering. “This one? It’s... it’s specially customized by Mr. Lu. He said it’s for a very important client.”
“Client?” I repeated those two words, my heart feeling as if it had been pricked by a needle.
Who would Lu Jing Shen have such an extravagant wedding dress made for? Besides the bride, who else could it be?
Taking a deep breath, I pointed to the luxurious gown and asked, “Can I try this one on?”
The Sales Assistant looked hesitant. "Well... that might not be very convenient. Mr. Lu has instructed that this wedding dress is extremely valuable, and it can only be tried on when the client arrives."
"The client hasn't arrived yet?" I raised my voice, a surge of anger rising within me. "What does it matter if I try it on now? I am also a client of Mr. Lu. Or should I say, I don't even have the right to try it on?"
The Sales Assistant was left speechless by my question and could only offer an awkward smile.
I ignored her further and directly picked up the luxurious wedding dress, heading into the fitting room.
After quite a struggle, I finally managed to put on the intricate gown.
Standing in front of the mirror, I gazed at the stunning woman reflected back at me, yet I felt no joy.
This wedding dress was indeed perfect—perfect to the point that it simply didn’t belong to me.
Just then, Lu Jing Shen pushed the door open and walked in. Upon seeing me in the lavish gown, his expression darkened instantly.
"Who told you to wear that?" His voice was cold, laced with anger.
I turned around to face him, my eyes involuntarily reddening. "Why is her wedding dress better than mine?" I asked, only to realize my voice trembled slightly, tinged with a sense of grievance.
Lu Jing Shen looked impatient, his brows furrowed tightly. "Su Wan is representing you; of course, it should be more grand. Don't make unreasonable demands!"
Representing me? More grand?
So, I deserve to wear this “Basic Model” to highlight her “grandness”?
I felt like a clown, humiliated by him, completely denied.
I opened my mouth, wanting to explain something, to ask him why he treated me this way, but before I could say a word, he coldly interrupted me.
“Change it!” he commanded, his tone leaving no room for doubt.
“This wedding dress isn’t for you; just wear that one.” He pointed to the “Basic Model” I had just tried on.
I looked at him, tears streaming down my face uncontrollably.
He didn’t give me any chance to argue, not even willing to spare me a glance.
My heart sank completely, cold and filled with despair.
