Father Su was the first to lash out, pointing his finger at the doctor and nurse, shouting, "What do you mean by body donation? I see you all as a bunch of frauds! Do you think we’re fools?"
Mother Su joined in with a piercing scream, "Security! Where are the security guards? Get these scammers out of here! Right now! Immediately!"
Lu Jing Shen, though not as unhinged as Father and Mother Su, wore a terrifyingly dark expression. He signaled to the bodyguards behind him.
Several tall bodyguards immediately stepped forward, roughly pushing the doctor and nurse toward the exit.
"Everyone, please calm down! Let me explain!" The doctor was sweating profusely, desperately trying to make one last effort. "The body donation is real! Miss Su signed an agreement while she was alive! What you’re doing is illegal!"
"Illegal?" Mother Su scoffed. "My daughter is dead; as her mother, I can’t make decisions? Body donation? This is just your hospital's scheme! You want to use my daughter’s body for experiments? I’m telling you, not a chance!"
"Exactly!" Father Su chimed in. "Get out of here! If you don’t leave now, don’t blame us for being rude!"
The bodyguards acted roughly, dragging the doctor and nurse out.
The doctor kept shouting, "You can’t do this! The patient has truly passed away! You need to believe in science!"
I watched them being unceremoniously thrown out, a wave of desolation washing over me.
This was my family; this was the man I once loved deeply. They would rather believe in Su Wan's nonsense than trust the doctor's professional judgment.
Science? Trying to explain science to these people was like playing music to a cow!
In the corridor, only the Su Family and Lu Jing Shen remained, along with the White Cart pushed aside and me, lying quietly on the Cold Bed.
The doctor was still outside the corridor, desperately shouting, “She’s really dead! No heartbeat! No breathing! What are you going to do?!”
“Did you hear that? Did you hear what the doctor said? No heartbeat, no breathing—doesn’t that mean she’s dead?!” I tried to roll my eyes in exasperation, but my eyelids wouldn’t budge.
Were these people deaf? Or had their brains been caught in the door?
Su Wan spoke up at just the right moment, her tone laced with provocation. “Mom and Dad, don’t be angry. The doctor might have been fooled by my sister. She’s so clever; she must have some way to fake her death. Haven’t we seen reports about people who can put themselves in a state of suspended animation to escape responsibility?”
Fake death? Escape responsibility? I was almost laughing out of frustration at Su Wan’s twisted logic.
I was really dead! Truly dead! What responsibility was there to escape? Had I borrowed money from their family or something?
Su Wan’s words were like adding fuel to the fire. Father Su, Mother Su, and Lu Jing Shen, who were already half-convinced, immediately decided that I was faking it after hearing her.
“Exactly! That must be it!” Mother Su pointed at me angrily. “I told you! Su Qingqian that little brat is full of tricks! She’s definitely faking her death to fool us and escape responsibility!”
“She must have done it on purpose!” Father Su gritted his teeth. “Faking her death just to disgust us! That little brat would even harm us after she’s dead!”
Lu Jing Shen narrowed his eyes, his expression growing darker. He stared coldly at me as if trying to find some flaw in my “corpse.”
“Su Qingqian, you really are something else. Faking your death, huh? Fine, I’ll let you pretend for as long as you want today!”
I am so furious that if I could move, I would definitely jump up and slap you twice to wake you up!
