The Ancestor's anger was palpable, and Hua Xu, crawling on his knees, approached Jiang Chen and bowed his head in submission.
"Mr. Jiang, I was blind to your greatness. Please, do not hold my foolishness against me; I am but a worthless being."
Hua Yuejin had no intention of truly killing Hua Xu. Seeing him beg for mercy, he did not intervene. However, Jiang Chen's cold and resolute nature made it clear that seeking his forgiveness would be no easy task.
"I won't take your life," Jiang Chen said with a faint smile. "Since Hua Lao has come personally, I will show him some respect."
Upon hearing this, Hua Yuejin straightened up immediately. Jiang Chen's words were unexpected; for such a formidable figure to grant him face was an honor.
"Why aren't you thanking Mr. Jiang for sparing your life?" Hua Yuejin scolded.
"Thank you, Mr. Jiang, for sparing my life," Hua Xu repeated, bowing his head vigorously.
"Enough with the bowing," Jiang Chen waved his hand impatiently.
"Did you not hear Mr. Jiang? Get out of his sight!" Hua Yuejin barked again.
Only then did Hua Xu retreat with his severed arm.
Inside the teahouse, a brief silence fell.
Gu Yu's face turned pale; he felt extremely awkward and trapped. The situation had become painfully clear. His only hope had been shattered. This seemingly ordinary young man, Jiang Chen, had a terrifying background.
"Manager Gu!" Qin Xiaoya called out.
Gu Yu snapped back to reality and forced a smile that looked more like a grimace. "President Qin, I am willing to pay ten billion immediately."
"You must pay the money, but your son will never regain his appearance," Qin Xiaoya replied coolly.
"President Qin, please give me another chance," Gu Yu pleaded humbly. At that moment, even without knowing Jiang Chen's true identity, he could tell from the Ancestor of the Hua Family's attitude toward him just how significant Jiang Chen was—beyond imagination.
The Ancestor of the Hua Family was a revered elder in the capital; even Gu Yu's father would call Hua Yuejin "Uncle Hua" upon seeing him.
"I already gave you a chance earlier. Now you must pay the money, but the antidote will not be yours," Qin Xiaoya stated firmly.
"President Qin, this is too unreasonable," Gu Yu said with a pained expression.
"Little Gu, why are you rambling? Offending Mr. Jiang is not something money can resolve. Hurry up and get the money; otherwise, don't blame me for being rude," Hua Yuejin turned to Gu Yu with a terrifyingly dark expression.
He was seething with hatred toward Gu Yu; if it weren't for him, the Hua Family would not have offended Mr. Jiang. What surprised and shocked him was that Mr. Jiang actually showed him some leniency. This made Hua Yuejin quite excited, but unfortunately, Mr. Jiang had already given him one chance. If anything happened again or if he needed something in the future, it was likely that Mr. Jiang would not be so forgiving again.
In Hua Yuejin's eyes, the favor Mr. Jiang had granted was akin to a divine opportunity. Gu Yu had squandered that chance, so how could Hua Yuejin possibly remain in good spirits?
"But I took the money, and Mr. Jiang is unwilling to save my son. Doesn't that mean I've taken the money for nothing?" Gu Yu trembled with fear, but ten billion was no small sum. If he had spent that amount for nothing and his son still ended up disfigured, wouldn't he be suffering a tremendous loss?
"Haha, you took the money to save your own life. To Mr. Jiang, your life is as insignificant as an ant; he can crush it whenever he pleases," Hua Yuejin said in a deep voice, displaying a sense of eagerness.
